Henever gave up on his son and always kept pushing on, fighting, searching for more, for a better life. He never was overcome by any savage thoughts or actions, like cannibalism towards his son, and he never got upset at his son. The two characters really played off of each other very well. Both giving each other awill and reason to live. Even in his father's death, the son stayed true to his father.

I can't wait for the movie, which is set to be out in October.

On to "The Color Purple". It's quite funny because I'm going to see the play next week

Damn it, CincoSeisDos and Pig Love named great books.

Consider Raising Cain. Not a novel, but a work by two psychologists who expound on the various elements that hinder the development of the emotional"language" of boys, making them into repressed men who may lash out at society or simply fall apart.

Great read, only half way through but enjoying every bit of it.
