IS KOBE BRYANT...OVERRATED?

I dont feel as Kobe is an over rated player, just a bad team mate, that's my biggest grip on dude. Kobe will go down as the second vbest gurad after Jordan, no matter if he goes on to win 2 more. Because unlike Michael, Kobe doenst make his team mates better, as well as he lost two championship series.

Legends of the NBA: 25 Best Players of the 2000s

BY PETER EMERICK (FEATURED COLUMNIST) ON OCTOBER 1, 2012

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1350566-legends-of-the-nba-25-best-players-of-the-2000s/page/27

1. Kobe Bryant, SG, L.A. Lakers

2000s Stats: 28.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 5.2 APG, 1.7 SPG, 45.7 FG%

Years Played in 2000s: 2000-2009 (10 Seasons)

Notable Achievements in 2000s: Four-time NBA Champion, 2009 NBA Finals MVP, 2008 NBA MVP, 10-time NBA All-Star, Three-time NBA All-Star Game MVP, Two-time NBA Scoring Champion, Seven-time All-NBA First Team, Two-time All-NBA Second Team, 2005 All-NBA Third Team, Six-time NBA All-Defensive First Team, Two-time NBA All-Defensive Second Team

Much like the 1990s were absolutely dominated by Michael Jordan, the 2000s were dominated in the same way by Kobe Bryant.

Kobe benefited from playing alongside one of the best centers to ever play the game, but he proved that he could lead a team by himself to the NBA's promised land when he led the L.A. Lakers to the 2009 NBA title.

Kobe's success wasn't earned overnight and it wasn't a natural gift. It was a product of hard work and studying the game. When it came to being a cerebral player, there was no better player in the game than Kobe. He outsmarted his defenders and he constantly broke down defenses by understanding where their weaknesses were.

His confidence also put him on a whole different level than most other players during the 2000s. He was never afraid to take big shots, and he never backed down from any obstacle that stood in his way of obtaining greatness.

Kobe was without a doubt the best player of the 2000s, and he could very well be the greatest player in the history of the game.

I don't like Kobe but I respect his game. He is by far the best player since MJ. It's been a privilege to watch him in person

Lol what?......and I'm still laughing that that columist just 10 monthes later called kobe the greatest player of the 2000s

Here is the difference between Kobe and all the other wack players mention like lebron and Paul pierce...... 5rings 81 points

See what I mean.

If rings are the measure of great you are as a player then....Robert Horry, Steve Kerr and KC Jones are top 10 all time players. If its scoring then Wilt is the undisputed GOAT and no one else is even close.

Let's me ask you this Golden Child

Where does Kobe rank as All-Time SG?

Where does Kobe rank among all Players All-Time?

Kobe is the second best SG ever, no question about it.

But Jordan transcended the game and redefined that position. SG has not been the most important piece to a championship team since before or after Jordan.

He's not better than MJ (of course) but he's not better than players like Hakeem either, son is barely top 5 best Lakers players, much less top 5/10 all time player.

Elgin Baylor averaged almost 40 points and 20 rebounds and 5 assist in 1 season. Kareem, Magic, Shaq, Jerry West....

Hakeem won 2 chips as the undisputed leader of his team against tough comp and averaged 26 pts, 13 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 steals....no flaws in dudes game.

Tim Duncan?

Kobe is top 15/20

But damn sure not top 5 like a lot of people make him out to be.

Jesus.. I just realized it was a bleacher report article... Nothing like trying to make a point... And using Bleacher Report :lol

ill put it like this. Legacy wise, kobe has everyone beat currently and is not overrated in that sense but him being top 5 on some people's lists is wildly overrated. He's not better career wise than oscar, wilt, magic, micheal and kareem. everyone after that is debatable. As far as skillset and pure offensive talent , kobe is obviously second all time behind jordan without a shadow of a doubt due to him simply honing his entire offensive repertoire off the man(which is a smart thing in my book). If kobe racks up another scoring title, ring and mvp, he easily cracks top 5 and maybe top 3 if he becomes all time leader in points. The only problem is that he's at year 17 while a certain guy in miami is just getting started in his prime and another slender fellow in oklahoma didn't even reach his prime yet and already has 3 scoring titles under his belt. Shoud be interesting to see where this debate lands 10 years from now.

in shooting guards all time I rank the mamba at number 3 ( **&$ D-wade) and all time players

All time players top 5

No way on earth is Kobe Bryant one the top 5 best players to play in the history of the NBA.....not possible.

This Bring Out the Kobe D-Riders
This starts with dudes that be slurpin Lebron. Dudes that were comparing him to Jordan before he even had his first mvp

I'm definitely a fan of Kobe, but man, response like this make me cringe. Please do better.

U can't bring up stats for abplayer like elgin baylor when they played in completely diffrent eras.....he had better stats then jordan too but that doesent make him a better player........if people don't think kobe is top 5 all time that's all fine and dandy but to say its not arguable is just silly...he's not arguably better then duncan? Hakeem? People can't argue that? There arent sports writers who's already made articles about him being top 3 let alone top 5?

so hes better than bird, magic, kareem, jordan and wilt?

Duncan, Chamberlain, Russell, Abdul-Jabaar, Bird, Magic & Jordan. (Not named in a specific order)

Outside of those names, making a case for somebody who's had a career better than Kobe is tough.

I'm not saying he is I'm not saying he isn't but u can't say u can't make an argument for it (besides jordan)...hell shaq and various other sports writers have called kobe the greatest laker ever, so its not like there arent people actively making arguments for it as we speak

And this is why I'm saying he's wildly overrated.

Son is not a smart or selfless player...he's an elite scorer and athlete.

He is not a better player than Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabar, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Hakeem Olajuwon...I'm not buying it.

Ok that's ur opinion but u can't say its not arguable for some of those players
