It just hit me...Kanye is a genius.

People who are on the hype of "he doesnt even write his own verses" are lames.

If you it took you 5 years to realize he doesnt write his own *+#+, then you never really paid enough attention in the first place.

Kanye doesn't make or create music. He pushes buttons that spit out sounds and then throws them together. He sure as hell isn't an "artist"

Then what pretale is an artist. If it was as easy as just button pushing im sure you can provide all of us with a ingenious and creative masterpiece right? Imsure the mods wouldnt mind you uploading your music seeing as you are going to grace us with a masterpiece befitting Mozart status.

he is barely average live

Then who is a great performer then. Please dont include the aforemention Slaughterhouse. If i wanted to her someone spew multi-syllable words randomly withoutcohesiveness in a dull lackluster monotone over a beat, id just play a sample in the background of a spelling bee ah something(i just said that too make astatement as outrageous as some expressed here.)

And what does clothing and shoes have to do with the product in hand. How does fruity colors or whatever correlate to talent.
Also what does time era have to do with talent and skillset. This by far is the dumbest arguement on this board. Prince is and amazing artist period not causehe was introduced in the late 70's. It comes across he can play 23 instruments but if he was in th 90's or new century all of a sudden he cant play 23instruments anymore. Stevie Wonder is an amazing composer has nothing to do with what generation he mad music in. Talent is talent and skill is skill makes nodifference in era of time you came out.
Ok an album ppl say is a classic Ushers' Confessions. Is it only good cause it came out in the new century,or is it the fact it was a amazing album andusher has a incredible voice.

I cant believe you just said 808's is better than the Love Below

Kanye is a very good producer who made "friends" in the industry, Kanye doesnt even write his own verses

he is barely average live, not hating on what he has been able to do but Kanye is no where near an all time great, but if you have a sneaker and fruity fashion, most of this board will love you

I co-sign this to the fullest. Cudi should have kept the verses he lentto Ye and just spin it himself as guest spots lol.

Meaning? If dude was on some Slaughterhouse/Wu type steez where lyricism was all of his appeal it would be a big deal but dude makes music. He gets a pass.

Ok.

..and I don't really care to either.

As open minded about life as your, this surprises me yo.
Everything Jthagreat said + I don't care to hear 'that' from Kanye, in a nutshell. Would you play Kobe at center? No. That's what808 is, and I could go without it of principle alone.

This is art, not sports. A shooting guard could play center but wouldn't fair well battling against other defined centers since thats theirmain focus. But in art/music you are only battling yourself. So I think that's a big difference. Not saying everyone can do it, but I wouldn't discounteveryone

Then why didnt he. Let me get this straight he gave away a critically acclaimed multiplatinum album away, only to come out with a waterdown less creative albumthat will be released ages after his single has hit its peak and fizzed out. But ill wait for you guys to listen to his album realize it is slightly above ok.Come on here and then front and post like it is the greatest thing since slice bread.Ill be looking foward to seeing the post and replies.

I honestly cannot put into words how much I disagree with this statement. I really tried, too.

If it is as simple as pushing buttons unless you are boarderline mentally ill or ******ed you can do something as simplistic as pushing a button.I can train a dog to do something as simple as press a button. Again to all who make this statement im waiting for your musically masterpiece to be displayedon the forum. What does market have to do with anything Kanye would stand out in any era. So you telling me that if 808 came out in lets say 1975 ppl wouldntsee notice it is different. If he wasnt some unique and different then how/why does he standout. This whole because he is mainstream bs is garbage. With thisinnovating invention called the internet there is no way you can go unoticed. People who arent even avid or care for rap music could tell if you played 808then played joe budden, immortal tech mf doom etc. They probably would think the other artist was all the same person. But Kanye would deff standout. Its justin todays market as you put it ppl see music as entertainment, something fun lively and free spirited. If he so muh the same.List all these albums that came outin that year that sounds similar to 808.

If it is as simple as a push of a button please bless us with your musical masterpiece. Im sure seeing that you can formulate sentences and typeon a keyboard, you can handle a less daunting task as pushing a button. And why does he stand out could it be cause he is different outside the norm, creativeinnovating. If not tell me this why can someone who isnt even into rap/hip hip genre spot him out over others. And ps clothes and shoes dont transcend on abeat so that tired lame excuse holds no merits.

It was a good album. At 1st I had mixed opinions, because I was comparing it to his other work, which I realized was a mistake. I grew to like the albumbecause it showed his versitility as an artist. It showed how he can switch styles.

This has to be a !*%!%@+ joke. I know the point you are trying to make, but comparing doom to the other 2 and sounding the same? really? Ifanything, Doom would probably stand out amongst them because dukes doesn't ride the beat and his beats are different too.

Kanye is a musical genius. Love Lockdown is the best song on that album. Thing is that Album was top 5 last year and it wasn't even his top 3 IMO.

Genius lets not take it that far. Prince is a musical genius. Quincy Jones. Stevie Wonder. I cannot put Kanye in the same class as those artist. But verytalented and is disregarded because he is popular among popular ppl and hated by ppl for being so yes.

Kanye is not a genius.

people do not realize how much the brilliant samples he uses play a part in how "genius" and melodic his songs are. almost every great Kanye song wasbasically made by its sample.

i'll say he's a genius in finding ill samples... dude has straight pulled stuff out of his %#@ that has you like "
eek.gif
how the hell did he findthat?"
(but we don't know if he actually knows all those samples, or just has a bunch of people bringing stuff to him)
