[:: J. COLE THREAD | DREAMVILLE's ROTD3 ALBUM OUT NOW!! ::]

I really can't see Cole making anything better than FHD.

I dont understand this logic. If that was his first album and he had been regressing I would understand that a little better.
But his album trajectory has been going upwards. His 3rd album was his best album. FHD was the first time he made an album HE wanted to make from front to back.
Now he has even more creative freedom and even less pressure from the record label for radio hits.

With that said, why would he not be able to make anything as good or better when he has even more freedom and resources at his disposal?

Seems like SS was his break into the rap world/mainstream
Born Sinner was the heads up that he's not some pop rapper
FHD was the true 1st album he wanted to make

It honestly sounded like it took him 3 tries to get it right. He's not exactly the experimental type so what else is he gonna rap about without sounding repetitive? His music is very predictable so I can't see him doing anything without it seeming like he's making the same album all over again. FHD was so good I'm worried he said the bar too high for himself.

Born Sinner still my favorite J.Cole album. FHD put him over the top and gave him a bunch of new fans but I still prefer Born Sinner.

Who the hell said Cole bested Kendrick? Nobody said that.

Kendrick had the better verse. But didn't kill him.

Yes, he did. His verse was infinit
ely better. But Cole also shined. There's a difference. Take the song Bad vs Evil, Em and Royce both killed it. It's even. Then take Never Let Me Down, both did awesome but Hov killed Ye. It ain't a slight, just facts.

That is very false. Jay had like 6 months to come up with a verse better than Em's which was already done, and still didn't. His verse wasn't better than Royce's verse that he replaced either.

God damn it. I didn't want to mention Renegade because I didn't want to further derail the thread. I'll maintain as I have for years that it was even. Em made the beat so he had an advantage. But Hov killed it too. If a third party made the beat it might be a different story .

Seriously nas said Jay got murdered so people ran with it. Before Ether that was not the narrative.

Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?
