Sorry to hear. Did you talk to them before your start date?Got my job offer rescinded due to a knee injury that caused me to miss my start date. It sucks, but I'll live.
same boatWent to a job fair to try and drop my name to a few companies I've applied to before. They seen my resume and said the reason I'm not getting a look is because I have 0 exp. I'm trying to get into Project Management and Database Management. Said I should start from the bottom bottom and work my way up though the bottom positions will give me no exp

what exactly is the bottom for our field smh
In the same field as you two. I actually took a class on Project Management using the PMBok so I have enough hours and the understanding to take the CAPM but I've been slacking . While I like PM, I'm digging data analysis more at this point. Have you two looked at Market Analyst positions? The position required SQL & basic knowledge of statistics. I applied & HR emailed me interested but they were in need of an immediate hire & i wouldn't be available until mid August. Also Johns Hopkins is offering data science classes via Coursera right now. R Programming, getting & cleaning data, Statistical inference, regression, etc. Check them out if you're into analysis. Also check hospitals listings.same boat

Not sure what you're level of tech skill is, but IT is always growing. Earning a few certs can get you easily placed into a tech company.
Been working at a small web development company as a graduate developer for nearly a month now.
Problem is due to it being a small company, there really isn't much work for me. I'm sitting around all day trying to learn new programming languages and develop my skills, but this is frustrating not getting any real practical experience.
Any advice?
For those here who did temp work, were you also interviewing around? How did you manage that?
much appreciated.Congrats bro
thank you, appreciate that!
Congrats @oxpenguin
Yup, never get comfortable. If it's a temp position, they should expect you to plan ahead and be ready to move. They can't expect you not to be looking for new jobs while still employed.
After being laid off a few months ago, I just started a temp role (2 months) at a firm run by my former boss. Chances of a full-time offer are very slim.

Thanks, fam. Keep pushing.
Congrats
after 2 years of searching and a year and 7 months of not having any income, I finally landed a job working as a Youth Care Worker, it's temporary (2-4 months) but having that on my resume will open a lot of doors I hope.
I know you guys get tired of hearing keep pushing but really, just keep pushing. you never know, I applied for this job even though I met none of the requirements/experience aside from speaking Spanish. apply to those jobs, you might get lucky and land an interview and kill it. when I went for my interview, it was like 20 people getting interviewed by 5 different hiring managers, cocky people telling me about all their credentials and experience, dressed like a million bucks and this and that. Don't get shy, lose hope, intimidated or discouraged, go at them like hell. I went in with no dambs, resume with only warehouse experience, my Associate's, button up flannel shirt, chinos and some burgundy SB's. hiring manager told me no, she then suggested I volunteer to gain experience which was when I said that no one wanted to give me a chance. show them you have heart, a lot of people let their resume do the talking, let your heart do the talking. lady heard me out and offered me the position on the spot, this was last Saturday and I started training today and I officially signed all the paperwork after clearing my background check. don't get angry or lose out on hope, trust me, I applied at maybe 100+ jobs, had maybe 10 interviews since last March with mostly all of them telling me no on the spot. went from working at the 99cent store making $8.35 an hour to this. no way am I trying to brag, just trying to show you guys can do it if I can, keep your heads up and don't give up. some of you have been unemployed longer, just keep at it, something will come when you least expect it, my brother went a couple years with nothing, then a job he doesn't remember applying to 6-8 months prior called him, just keep applying.
good luck to all of you, sending you all some positive vibes. best wishes on your hunt and to some of you best wishes on you climbing up that ladder.
we will make it bros.
good luck!!!
