Jordan his Airness, says he can score 100 points in NBA today.

no he would'nt

thats 31 pts off his high if im not mistaken with defenders that are bigger stronger and faster than he was.

Most of the people that defended him in his prime wouldn't even make an NBA squad today im sorry and no im not young i remember 90s basketball same goes for football Walter Payton and OJ would have sat down if Patrick Willis hit sticked them.

Funny how so many can actually be mad over his comment. Over analyzing it and reading too much in to it

these are basic fundamentals of the game

and the whole "the players are way more athletic today" arguement is stupid

people who say that just dont know 90's basketball.

there were more athletic guys in the 90's then now, because there wasnt so many euro guys

besides naming all of the obvious superstars, guys like

kevin johnson
robert pack
cliff robinson
jerome kersey
ron harper before he got hurt
larry nance
spudd web
kenny walker
even tom chambers

man all these dudes were athletic and could jump out of the gym and bang it on anyone

and the superstars of that era were way more athletic than the superstars of today

jordan
pippen
barkley
malone
david robinson
olajuwon
clyde drexler
dominuque wilkins
james worthy
shawn kemp
penny hardaway
grant hill

in their athletic primes these guys were unparalled

now look at the superstars of today

kobe
lebron
wade
duncan
garnett
howard
chris paul
derron williams
nash
dirk
gasol
vince carter

that 90's list is killin todays list

there is no barkley, malone, robinson, olajuwon, jordan, kemp, pippen, grant hill, penny hardaway in todays game because all of these dudes had a combination of athleticsim and skill

lebron is probably the only guy on their level as far as being freaks of nature and havin skill

theres plenty of athletic guys today, but they suck because they dont have fundamentals (dwight howard)

most of you young kidds only saw highlights of old barkley, and old malone, and every other 90's star when they were washed up,so you dont know how athletic they were

at the end of the day players back then were just as athletic, but they had all the fundamentals that todays players dont have
You sound like that old grampa type character that can't stop talking bout "Well in MY day, we used to have to walk FIFTEEEN miles to school. And forget about tennis shoes! Coca cola aint the same as it used to be" type steeze.

Funny thing is I'm probably older than you too, but I can still understand 90's ball and today aren't that far off from each other.

Some people just can't let go.

Why do people always bring up the argument that athletes today are bigger, faster, stronger than they were in previous eras, and that this is a reason why guys from back then couldn't do the same things today?

You don't think Mike would have been a level above everyone else like he was back then? You don't think he would have trained differently? Or smarter?

Mike was still amongst the best in the league when he was playing against guys who were 20 years younger. He'd KILL it today.

Kornheiser brought up a couple good points on PTI:

1. Jordan didn't shoot threes like Kobe does, and in order for a guard to put up that many points, he'd have to go off from out there. It just wasn't his style. Kobe hit 7 threes in his 81 point game.
2. Also, a guard like Jordan isn't going to get anything easy around the rim, such as put backs off of misses, which is what a guy like Wilt could do all night long

And then, even though defense is softer, you can still zone up and double team him and make everyone else beat you. No team is going to just let someone score 100.

Exactly.  MJ averaging 25 per quarter is not even that hard to imagine.  If Kobe can get 81, Jordan can easily get 100.

He's right though.

The biggest difference between then and now IMO is the lack of truly legendary defenders. Think about it, is there ANYONE in today's league who would get mentioned in a list of all-time greatest defenders? Even when their careers are long over. Maybe Ben Wallace, but he hasn't been himself for a long time. Back then you had Olajuwon, Pippen, Payton and Jordan himself. No one in today's league will rank ahead of these on an all-time defenders list. Or Mutombo. And the biggest difference is the lack of quality shot blockers. Young, athletic MJ who drove to the basket would SCORE AT WILL whenever he took it to the hole in today's league with these weak centers. And if it didn't result in a field goal, it would result in two free throw attempts.

I ain't arguing that MJ would still dominate in todays game when he was in his prime, but averaging 25 per quarter/100 a game with ease?! C'mon son. Really?

really? i doubt it, his highest was 69. no way he could add 31 points more. even david robinson had a higher career high than jordan.

Jordan hit six threes against Portland in the first half.

He doesn't have to go off from the three every game to put up one hundred - he only has to do it once.

I don't see what the big deal is about the statement. If Kobe put up 81, it isn't hard to fathom MJ putting up more. At the very least, it is fun to debate.

I think some of these responses are related with dudes picking up 2k11 and doing the Jordan Challenge.
Chill out Jordan heads. It was a joke.
