Jordan his Airness, says he can score 100 points in NBA today.

There is no way he would have scored 100. Its much harder to get to the basket in today's game. Jordan is right the game is less physical and hand checking is not allowed but he never had to play against a zone scheme that teams play today

if Jordan could score 55 versus Ewing and the physical, bruising Knicks, it makes me wonder how much he could put against the crappy Clippers/Warriors/Nets/Wolves of today....

You know Kobe clowned on the 29th ranked defense in the league... Jordan once dropped 63 against the #1 ranked defense a team considered one of the best in NBA history and IN the playoffs. Don't even try that "Jordan couldn't come close" stuff

uhhhhhh Kobe 62 in 3 quarters.....

hop off Jordans jock because he aint that great

thats 31 pts off his high if im not mistaken with defenders that are bigger stronger and faster than he was.

Most of the people that defended him in his prime wouldn't even make an NBA squad today im sorry and no im not young i remember 90s basketball same goes for football Walter Payton and OJ would have sat down if Patrick Willis hit sticked them.

You talking about old 60s,70s,80s violent NFL??? Where you could body slam people, clotheslines from hell (word to lynn swann) and just try to kill the player on the opposing team???? Naa man,you can't compare old NFL with the new NFL. Sure some of these dudes are beasts but football isn't as violent as it was (QB safety)

just stop, most of you dudes are slurping him up acting like he is god. dude wouldnt score 100 let alone 80. leave it at that, his career is done, over, finished. there aint no cumming back. he never scored 100 and never will so why is he talking about it? why does he even think he can do it? hes just mad Kobe got 81 and was pretty damn close to getting 100. much much closer than Jordan himself.

end of story

umm ok. Aint it passed your bedtime son? time to let the grownups talk. Greatest player you ever actually WATCHED is Kobe so your arguments are invalid. Your opinion is biased since you never actually saw MJ play so no need for your input kiddo.

Anyways.I think that it's possible but like it was said earlier,Wilts 100 was planned so if his teammates were for it,sure he could do it

he dropped 69 on the cavs but in overtime. not a normal 48 min. game. kobe got 81 in 4 quarters, 62 in 3 quarters. jordan never did, so it's not even worth debating. he never scored 70 or 80 and he never will, let a lone score 100 in a game.

Wow I've seen a lot of ridiculous comments in this thread and coincidentally they came when fans of "certain" players felt threatened that the player's "career moment" (which it's really not) was being overshadowed by MJ's comment, or that other current players (one of which chose to be a sidekicking groupie, whom wanted be with her BFF's, thus they shouldn't even pertain to this convo) legacies are being overshadowed when they're not. Now I know MJ wouldn't avg 60 a game that's a little much( I would say 40-45) even though I do believe it's possible he could've gotten 100 but I'm thinking more in the 80-90 range.

As for Kobe's 81pt game, it's one of the greatest scoring achievments in NBA history so stop feeling so damn threatened at the thought that someone would think to say they could score 100 and that some people would agree with the statement. that doesn't make him a douche, it makes him someone who believes in his ability which is often mistaken as arrogance and sometimes can be.

WITH THAT SAID...when Jordan scored his 69pts, he did it on 7 less FGA, and he also threw in 18 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Just saying...you take out four assists to equal the two that Kobe had in his 81pt game and it might be a different story( same with his 63 pt game against Boston he also had 6 ast) but that's a what if scenario.

Take away the hand checks and the physicality and shouldn't a one-on-one lock-down defender like Artest be in the discussion? I'd say it's more difficult to be a lock-down defender today because you really can't get away with anything.

So you're pretty much saying that the hand-checking/physicality of the NBA back when Pippen and Payton played is the ONLY reason why they're regarded as better defenders than Artest?  Did you see the original quote?  Dude said Artest should be considered as one of the BEST defensive players of all time....ALL TIME.  Ron is my dude, but there isn't a chance in hell that I'm co-signing that.

I'm not gonna doubt MJ...I do think he's the GOAT so I wouldn't put anything past him. Maybe he could, maybe he couldn't....Hell, i don't really care if he did or not, it would be exciting and entertaining to watch though....

But what I don't get is, how come y'all just conviniently IGNORE the fact that MJ consistently got calls and got to the line just as much, if not more than today's stars?

The "softer" NBA as you guys call it, wouldn't have really mattered. MJ was still getting the same superstar calls back then. That's a fact.

10 pages and only 2 people brought this up
