Terrible strategy. as dope as they are, I don’t see folks lining up anytime soon to rebuy neutral grey 85s at $250. Especially if they’re playing the artificial scarcity game.

All this for a shoe they won’t let their customers buy…
“You didn’t want to buy my trash, so I won’t let you buy my gold” is a wild sentiment for a company to have.

Respectfully, the brand can EAD
The oversight with Jordan 1’s sitting is because they kept making wack colorways along side really good colorways constantly and were just droppin all types of other nonsense. The sneaker fatigue was real and ppl wanted to be smart about their money and get THE OG colorways.

The other contributor to this was at the height of jordan 1 hype, EVERYTHING was hard to get and nike made no real effort to fix that. so plenty of people just became okay with missing out on jordan 1 releases. Nike made the pivot to flooding the streets way too slowly and allowed folks to move on to other shoes.
But that's shipping included.$925????
LMAO.

yall shouldn’t be surprised about any of this marketing. This is their very simple plan:
1. Market the hell out of the bred 85
2. Release a tiny quantity of a shoe everyone wants
3. Now there’s a Jordan 1 on resale platforms going for over $1k (which hasn’t been the norm in years)
4. Theoretically this infuses Jordan 1s and gets the youth hyped for them
I’m not saying it’s gonna work, just that this is what their plan is. It’s all designed around making a Jordan 1 coveted again. To see someone wearing them on the street and go “oh wow.”
The next time they come out I’ll be done with kicksThat ish def aint gon work on me. These will come back again, and again... not stressing or even caring about this release tbh.
5. Now that they see people will pay more than $250 everyone was complaining about, it gives them more of an excuse to continue raising retail prices until people start getting pushed out the game to move onto another hobby other than sneakers.
