The toe caps on that pair a few pages back should have NEVER passed QC. Thankfully my pairs have no issues like that. I’m not sure if factory was an issue with these like it was the BC3. Somehow I doubt it. Pair on top is my Champs pair (LNM), bottom is FTL (LN3M).

The PL is REALLY thin on these, thinnest of any 11 I’ve seen thus far. Definitely not touching the last Concords or Playoffs. I see what people mean about the upper leather too. Oh well. Just gonna wear em at this point.

I hit on Champs & Foot Locker yesterday with no boosts or head starts or whatever the F they want to call that crap now. I confirmed on both.
But I opted to pick mine up from Beverly Center Foot Locker today.
This one was easy. I'm glad I didn't waste time and points to get a head start.
The store I went to verified they'll have a gang of these after the 5:00 PM deadline to pick up reservations.
Dude, don't remind us of that idiocy! I still remember that asinine disaster when fools ripped the gates at a store to rush in back in December 2011 when those bootleg looking Concord XIs were re-released.
Some dopes even crawled underneath the space at the bottom of the gate looking like some damn rats and roaches coming in.
It's nice to see folks are civilized like they should be nowadays.

Definitely not as high as Playoffs or Concords. Probably not as high as Space Jams either but that is more debatable.
The consensus these days seems to be:
1. Playoff = Concord
2. Space Jam
3. Columbia = Cool Grey?
In 1996 it was Playoffs > Concords > Columbia from what I remember.
For me personally it’s:
1. Playoffs
2. Concords
3. Space Jams/Black Concord
4. Columbia
5. Cool Grey
The Playoff 11 is my fav shoe ever.

You are 100 percent correct! The Concords were nice, but honestly I have more fond memories of Iverson rockin the Concords than MJ. The Playoffs were a different kind of beast! We beat the hell out of them; they were indestructible. The All Stars hit differently. They make me think of Just For Feet, Nas’ It Was Written, and Summertime 96.

The Patent leather has def gotten worse progressively since cherries. But at the end of the day they are shoes man.

In my opinion, we are entering another peculiar phase of JB’s product quality. It astounds me that we eagerly anticipate the release of this product year after year, only to be met with a subpar quality that falls short of expectations. At this juncture, it is imperative that we collectively express our dissatisfaction towards these corporations and demand better from them.

I was around 2006 -2015. I owned 2006 military blues (possibly the worst mass production shoe ever released by Nike.) I remember the embarrassment that was the CDP playoffs XI (worst XI ever put in a box hands down.) The absolute bricks that they called white cement IV’s (or tech grey) in 2012. Hell even the last legend blues, absolutely embarrassing. I know where they’ve been as a brand, that’s why I’m always dismissive of the maniacal quality talk In these threads. It can get nauseating at times. Because whether we admit it or not the company has actually improved from where they were. These are super mass produced lifestyle sneakers that aren’t always gonna be perfect and expecting them to be so just isn’t logical. If you want a perfect pair spend triple the money and buy from one of the luxury brands, because Air Jordan’s have NEVER been perfect.

It might not be so bad if it weren’t for the price increases too.
On certain models, I get that some materials may not be available anymore (ie Durabuck), but they should be using the closest available materials with the best possible quality. Jordan’s in the 90’s were always very good quality, even if the craftsmanship wasn’t perfect from pair to pair just like now. The leather on OG 12’s and 13’s were incredible. The patent on the 11’s was thick and didn’t feel synthetic like it does now. The 4-8 had durabuck which was a synthetic material but it FELT like it was quality compared to what we get now. Even small details, like the metal eyelets on OG 12’s. Come on JB….

At the end of the day, it’s a business. The company wants to produce a shoe for the cheapest they can & charge the most they think consumers will stomach. I’m sure those in the company in charge of material accuracy/quality don’t give many damns about being truest to the original if it affects the bottom dollar.
NT & other social platforms that’ll pick the shoe apart, complain about quality, etc make up a small percentage of overall sales—and most of us still pickup a pair, even if it takes some searching for a decent looking pair.
This isn’t excusing Nike/JB & their retro quality; I just don’t think it’s realistic to expect much or any improvement unless you can somehow get most of the world to stop buying releases.

We need to stop using craftsmanship like Geppetto is making these in his shop. They push the button and that's it. It's always the same complaints , and we're still here ( myself included). At this point, since we get so many pics early, you can gauge if you want to buy or not. Can't keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.

Look, I get what you’re saying, but I’ve gotta disagree here. Just because Jordans weren’t perfect back in the day doesn’t mean we should lower the bar and accept mediocrity now. Yeah, the 2006 military blues were borderline disrespectful to feet everywhere, and those CDP XI playoffs? Definitely gave Payless energy. But just because they fumbled in the past doesn’t mean we should handwave quality issues today.
These are Air Jordans—a brand with a legacy so big, people camp out in line for hours just to cop a pair. The least they can do is give us something that doesn’t feel like it was glued together during a lunch break. Improvement from ‘embarrassing’ doesn’t mean good; it just means less bad. I’m not saying they need to be Birkin bags for your feet, but for the price, it’s not wild to expect craftsmanship that lives up to the hype. If we stop holding them accountable, they’ll be selling us Crocs with Jumpman logos by 2030.

Enough is enough! We’re out here pretending like Nike gives a damn about ‘craftsmanship,’ as if Geppetto himself is back there delicately handcrafting each pair. Let’s be real—they push a button, crank out millions of pairs, and then sit back laughing at us while we fight over trash-quality sneakers. And the worst part? We let them. Every. Single. Time.
It’s time to stop being sheep. We need to rise the hell up and push back. Be loud, be relentless, and stop buying this garbage. If the early pics show trash, call it out and walk away. Let those bricks sit on shelves until Nike has no choice but to pay attention. They thrive because we stay quiet and keep buying. We’ve been enabling their laziness and greed, and it’s time to put an end to it.
We are the culture. WE are the reason Jordans are still relevant. Without us, they’re just overpriced shoes collecting dust. So why are we letting them play us like fools? They’ll keep cutting corners and laughing at us as long as we let them. Get mad. Get loud. And hit them where it hurts—their pockets. Enough with the excuses. If we want change, we’ve gotta demand it. No more settling for scraps while they count billions.

I agree about the price increases. It sucks. Only thing is after adjustment for inflation the $125 they were charging in 1996 is over $250 in 2024. The shoes are actually cheaper today.

I know you know it's not that serious lol. It's simple, stop buying. I've had my fair share over the years, walking away doesn't give me that feeling of missing out. But that changes for someone in their teens or 20s that are buying. For me, the culture has always been basketball, that's what I love and that's why I love kicks. That has obviously changed over the years (for various reasons), and from this perspective, the basketball shoe culture BEEN gentrified (no stupid pun intended), so for me, what I loved about it has been long gone. They are making it easier to just walk away.
