Jordan XIV Black Toe - November 2, 2024

God these are as bad as anything from the dreaded 2008-2015 pre remaster “Gentry Era”. The leather and shape is terrible. Return and grabbing Olives.

They are the worst OG retro in recent memory material wise. It’s bad cause they’ve done a decent job the last 5 or so years and the last 2 improved even more but these are def a retro of 10 years ago.

Yeah I went TTS and they fit real snug. I had to cop another pair going up half a size so I can see which size fits me better before I un-ds.

As far as comfortability level, the 2024’s are much more comfortable under my feet than the 2014’s. I sold the 2014’s last year after my feet began to really hurt when wearing them, and I wore my 2014 pair at least 40-50 times over the course of 10 years. I felt like the more I wore the 2014’s over time, the more the bottom of my feet would hurt.

As far as leather quality is concerned, the 2024 release left a lot to be desired. Either way I’m not mad at paying $194 out the door for my TTS pair and $223 for the half size up pair. It is what it is.

Upon having my pair in hand I think they look good overall. But agree with everyone about the leather quality, it’s leaving much to be desired. Idk. It’s my second favorite colorway of the 14 after Last Shots and since they probably won’t get retrod for a long time I’ll probably keep them.

These look and feel terrible in hand. Extremely disappointed for $210. Sending them back today.

First shoe in a while I’ve felt this. Its usually obvious beforehand the quality isn’t there so I pass even if it’s a shoe I would have wanted if done right. I feel deceived with these 😂.

Mine just landed from FTL. They're going back, sadly. I can live with the ish materials and even the shape that leaves a lot to be desired. But my right shoe, the height of the upper's heel cut and medial side panel around the rear is noticeably higher than the left shoe. I saw it as soon as I took them out of the box, without even putting them side by side to see it directly. The right shoe's toe also has wrinkles in the "suede." :smh:

Pretty bummed because I would've ignored the other shortcomings just for the nostalgia and the look and having this colorway back in my hands for the first time since the 2006 retro (skipped the 2014 for some reason I don't recall anymore). But I'm not settling for this bum pair, especially for $230 after CA tax. And there's no way in hell I'm paying resale for these. Gonna have to just live without them, unless restocks crop up. Oh well.

Yea I’m leaning towards returning them. It’s one of the best colorways of one of the best shoes in the line but it’s done so bad it’s not worth it the price.

Imagining what you’d think of those 2014’s which were leagues worse 😂

I don’t even remember the 2014s. Prob just passed on them like most Jordan’s during that time. Like I said before, I’m annoyed at how bad these are because we’ve gotten quality releases the last few years and this doesn’t fit in with them. This is some cheap lazy attempt at one of the best in the line.

I returned my pair this morning. Extremely disappointed. Was my favorite colorway on this model. Was so excited to get these because I sold my ‘14s because they were unbearable to wear.

Sad to hear these stories. I had the OGs and we have never gotten a good retro if these. The first retro had ribs, then the 2014 felt like Flintstones shoes, and now the issues with this one.

I get if you didn’t like the ribs on that first retro but the shoe itself was money. Good leather. Good suede. Had the memory-foam collar padding. Great cushioning. Took it for granted at the time but if we got a retro like that now we’d be stroking ourselves over them all day

Got mine in. They’re cool but make me consider return.

Immediate differences: OG black toe XIV had a very plush sock liner. Think something like a microfiber velvet. Padding was also very nice. This retro has a standard issue retro sock liner.

The shape is also totally off. Seems like they’ve tapered the cuts a bit to always look like a “ribbed” variation. Overall they made it a smaller looking shoe and scaled back the curve at the top of the heel. I can see why folks aren’t feeling the sizing just looking at them.

Also it seems like the leather on the OG pair is also fairly stiff but I’d be willing to bet that it’s actually thick vs. a lot of polyurethane coating on the 2024 retro.
