You're the first person who feels the same way I do about this shoe & your experience is close to identical with mine. The Zion 3 has been the first shoe I've been able to take straight from the store to the floor since the Kobe AD NXT's. I haven't gotten the MUD's yet, but with the regular joints I can't play with the insole that comes with them so I swapped them with the AD NXT insoles & they feel awesome! Waiting for the black MUD's to go on sale so I can scoop those up & those will most likely be my 5th & final pair of Zion 3's.Late to the Zion party but currently testing out the “Mud” pair…
So far only one half session in… shot around and played about 3 games of 21. The fit of these are definitely the highlight… nice and snug, although I think I cranked the laces too tight because sometime during the last game my feet were screaming smh. Lots of discomfort around the lateral side of where the metatarsals are located. Kinda weird to get that pain all of a sudden, something to keep an eye out for next time. Traction in these seems decent… had to wipe, maybe a little more than normal but they weren’t bad like I was sliding on ice skates either. Oh and it took about an hour before I really starting feeling the Zoom… pretty bouncy but the cushioning is also another highlight. Heel feels a little clunky but it’s not too bad, I mostly play on my toes anyway.
Interesting point because I think he signed a 5 year deal with Jordan brand and he wore the sig Jordans the first year or two. I hope that’s not the case. I really liked the 2’s and 3’s.Since there are no leaks or info on the 4 I guess it’s getting pushed to spring or discontinued. Ita been over a year since the 3
It's the opposite for me. I need them so that I can quit using the insoles from my Kobes.Let me know when I can grab the full length zoom joints on deep deep discount. Need that drop in for my Kobes
If you still hoop in regular *** Jordan's just say that. These are trash.
I have these (which have now been downgraded to yard work shoes), the Fresh Paints, the all white joints & the blue joints that just came out. Other than the soles being dust magnets (but not slippery like you said) & that hard *** insole that comes with the shoe (which immediately gets swapped out with those of my Kobe AD NXT's), this is been a very solid shoe to hoop in; both for slow pace pickup game & fast paced league games.Have purchased way too many kicks this summer, hadn’t played in these in a while but brought them out tonight at my local 24 Hr Fitness (typical dusty floor)
First time really playing against some decent competition (younger guys) and I’d say they weren’t bad at all… traction def picked up a lot of dust as you can see, but I wasn’t sliding around or anything like that. I like the snug fit, so no complaints there. But, the cushioning man… it’s so low to the ground, and not that it’s a surprise, I knew that when I got em but when I’m playing full court for a couple of hours that’s when I def need something a little more plush under foot. Will probably keep these and break them out from time to time just to wear something different but they won’t be a main part of the rotation. I think I do like these over the Kobe 8 proto, mostly because of the forefoot Zoom.
I’ve been occasionally swapping in my 2 Jordan 2011 drop ins and my Lebron 11 drop ins in these Zions.I have these (which have now been downgraded to yard work shoes), the Fresh Paints, the all white joints & the blue joints that just came out. Other than the soles being dust magnets (but not slippery like you said) & that hard *** insole that comes with the shoe (which immediately gets swapped out with those of my Kobe AD NXT's), this is been a very solid shoe to hoop in; both for slow pace pickup game & fast paced league games.
I was finally able to land some Kobe 8 TB's so I'm going to see how those Lunarlon insoles (which I'm also not a fan of) work in the Zions.
It is kinda crazy how much these look like the XX9sSooooooo, Fresh Paints without the gray, midsole & outsole, black speckles & red tongue lining?
They're the first shoe since Kobes that I've been able to take straight from the store to the floor. The only negative about the Zion 3's (minus the ones above) is that hard *** insole that comes with them. If you have any other drop-ins that you can swap them with (minus the Lunarlon joints) definitely do it.Seeing hella sales on z3s but every review I’ve seen says they’re the worst hoop shoe of all time
