KENDRICK LAMAR: "GOOD KID M.A.A.D CITY"

Cover art is :smokin Sort of reminds me of some Odd Future covers.

Why does it say "a short film" though?

I love the artwork on both covers. I think it says " a short film" because I take it as him saying his lyrics are so descriptive and vivid that it is like watching a film. I could be wrong but that's just how I interpret that.

Kill him where he stand and stand over him shake his hand
Then jump back in that mini van, double back to his block and blam I ain't backing down for nothing

Pushin' in my mama van, stop for gas on Rosecrans
Trust me these ****** rushed me for something my cousin probably did
Guilty by association story of my life, *****!

My momma believed in me, she let me use her van to go to the studio
Even though she know her tank is empty, that's who I do it of'

Deluxe will be copped :smokin

1. Title Unknown/TBA – Kendrick explained the song as a subliminal message to the people that expect for artists like himself to blow up and forget where they came from but this is him showing he’s remained the same. “Don’t Kill My Vibe” might be the name as it was mentioned in the hook.

2. Poetic Justice feat. Drake – This is a song for the females that dudes can enjoy too. Surprise? It samples a Janet Jackson song called “Any time, Any place” and features a verse from Drake. K Dot and Drizzy both end their verses with this line “I can’t right my wrongs unless I write them for real”. Hey and guess what? apparently they’re already shooting a music video for this.

3. Now Or Never (?) feat. Mary J. Blige – This is a very radio friendly song and has potential to be a single. To be honest, it’s the best MJB has sounded in a minute, to me anyway. Kinda in the same vein as “Reach Out” on Life Is Good but a lot better, in my opinion. I can’t recall any specific quotables from Kendrick because the entire production and hook of the song was that good

I can't believe within the span of 1 year how much Kendrick has grown on me.

I swear guys, you don't see me in the early stages of this thread for a reason. I thought he was overrated, i thought his voice was annoying, i honestly was bothered by his flow. I couldn't connect with him, I thought he was trying too hard to sound intelligent.

1 year later, and I listen to his songs non-stop, I am buying tickets to go see him live, I have October 22nd (which is also my birthday :smokin ) CIRCLED on my calendar just for this album, and I continuously stalk over this thread to make sure I never miss out on anything new involving Kendrick.

Amazing artist, I can't believe I didn't realize it at first. I guess its true though, people (or artists) really can grow on you.
Can't wait for this, then the collab with Cole.

:nthat:
