**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

That's a short sighted goal ... might look fun and exciting for parts of the game, but won't get you anywhere in throughout the season (just like last season). Tonight was a perfect example. It helped them get back in the game but they couldn't sustain it. Ah like I stated, I'm all for running when opportunity presents itself... but they need a proper half court set to couple with it. One or two nicely executed offensive sets at the end of the game tonight could have probably sealed a win.

We won on Friday because we sustained that pace for the vast majority of the game. Zo's only been there for 3 games really and Puke's still tinkering with eh rotations, I think going forward JC should probably man that 2nd unit instead of Ennis. They've said repeatedly they are going to try and dictate a play of pace and to run more, it's one of the main reasons they drafted Zo in the 1st place. It plays to his and the other guys' strengths to play fast. We have to execute better in the half court no doubt but until we get better defensive personnel, our offense is our best defense right now and it's in our best interest to run as much as possible to stay competitive.

Lonzo needs to shoot more imo. After he comes off that pick from the center of the court and pass to the wing gets too repetitive and would be easy to adjust for capable teams. That's an easy steal and lay-ups for most teams

He does shoot a lot though actually. He just needs to learn how to pick his spots better as a scorer. That will take time though.

What would you say if Randle went 3/13?

If he's goin 3/13 playing ISO bully ball, then we have a problem.

If Zo is shooting 3/13 regularly in his 3rd season and not Impacting the game positively in other ways, then it's gonna be an issue.

My only gripe with Randle is when he tries to play bully ball when there is clearly a smarter play to be made. In tonight's game sometimes he played within the offense and sometimes he reverted to "what he does". There is a happy medium.

I guess that's what i mean. There's time that he can actually attack straight to basket. Good things happen when he looked to drive to the basket

I think it’s a confidence thing. He’s a rookie though so I’m sure we will see the over cautiousness he exhibits throughout the season.

I'd prefer for lonzo to this early and often. Once he establishes that he is a threat to score early, defenders will pay more attention to him and it opens up the game for the rest of the team.

Randle hasn't shot below 50% to start the season. Went 3/8 and 4/10 in two preseason games but other than that 50% or better. And he's had a big impact overall on defense. So..

I'm gonna test out some random games tonight and see how they hold up. Maybe it was just a bad night for their servers.

i was watching on my PS4 and i try to watch on a mini delay so it buffers enough but the feed kept on skipping 5 seconds . I'd be watching Kuzma shoot and before it goes in.... it snaps to Boogie driving into the lane.
I watched on my cable since they had the free league pass. I started with it last year and there were still some problems with the servers and i paid three months worth for the one team pass. I live in Boston so i'm glad we get 35 national games

I want that Zo-KCP-Ingram-Kuzma-Randle line-up to work so bad :lol::lol:. I'm glad to see Randle earn his minutes back though. There's no reason Nance should be starting over Randle, he just needs to get his mind right.

Probably (hopefully?) just talk. I'd hate to see the Lakers give up on another top 2 pick. If we trade/let Randle walk, trade Dlo and trade Ingram, that would mean we have nothing to show for being one of the worst teams in the league for 3 years. I don't understand their strategy to be honest. Why draft 19 year old, one-and-done guys if you're not ready to develop them? Seems like we have a one-foot-out, one-foot-in strategy toward the re-build.

If we continue to start off slow offensively then it may be time to move Nance to the bench. It all depends on whether Lonzo's shot is falling early and/or if Ingram plays decent in the first quarter.

Definitely agree with you on this one, you have to give these guys 4 years or so nowadays. Still, this doesn't mean he can be really really bad for 2 or 3 years before judging him. He should show flashes of brilliance as early as his rookie year. Lets face it, thus far he has been super underwhelming. Hopefully he continues to develop throughout the season. He's on a rookie contract so he basically costs you nothing while still having the potential to be great.

And what about all the bone head plays he makes ? If he can play like he did the 2nd half He should be starting most the time he goes 1 on 1 it’s either a turn over or he takes a bad shot

I agree with you 100%. Zo has shown more in 3 games than Ingram has over his time on the team. Not to down the kid but even when Ingram plays well, it feels fluky. The Suns game feels like an anomaly and not something I can ever see him consistently doing. He has that Giannis length with the huge strides where he can get to the basket at will but he lacks the strength to finish. He needs to fix his jumper, its awful. It looks bad and never goes in.

Um... ok

But I was talking about a rookie who was looking too passive coming in to the season.

Randle has his ups and downs, I've been fair with my opinion on him. But you would think that there are somethings he would've worked on (even in his rookie year that he didn't play) and gotten better at.

I've said many times.. Sure he can get his numbers, but the issue most of the time is HOW he gets them.

Is there any justifiable reason for not start Kuzma? Cause I can't think of any.
I bet if we start slow again, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens sooner than you think. If Ingram continues to be horrible, we need offense with that starting line up and maybe Kuzma gives you that. Ball/KCP/Ingram/Kuzma/Lopez to start might give you more scoring options rather then praying INgram plays well and Lopez's 3 is falling. Still early though bc KCP wasn't there the first two games and he's shown to be able to score so far in 1 game.
