**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

If you think about it, now that PG signed with OKC. It actually makes it less likely spurs will get The Godfather deal from LA. It’s one thing to give up EVERYONE on your roster for kawhi when you also have PG and LeBron, creating a triple superstar team. It’s another when it’s just gonna be LeBron and kawhi and bunch of g-leaguers. Now more then ever do we need these young guys to step up.

Also remember when magic got all defensive about “I ain’t got no pressure I’m magic”. I wonder if that was the day he received word that PG wasn’t coming? Like when dudes get rejected by a girl and they say “oh her loss!”

I can see it now. PG is staying in Oklahoma City, LeBron signs elsewhere and Kawhi gets traded to Boston or Philly, goes to the Finals and re-signs there nextoffseason.

All the big free agents for 2019 (Klay, Butler, etc.) re-sign with their current teams and all this talk about cap space and signing big name free agents was all for not.

The reason I'm against just letting the young core grow is that personally, I don't see any of our young guys becoming all-NBA type players. IMO,
we have a whole bunch of complementary pieces, no top 10 player in the league. if we go strictly with the young core, I see a stopping out as those mid 90s Lakers teams who are fun to watch and had a lot of likeable characters, but were never going to win anything.

The only upside to free agency so far is that it looks like we'll be able to keep Randle for cheap.

So rather have team with Lebron, PG, Kawhi and whatever else is left and have a 2-3 year window that still won't beat GS?

Honestly, I'd rather have that team than a team of 3rd options who are going to peak as a second-round exit team. We'll end up being the West Coast Raptors. I hope I'm wrong though, I just don't see any of our guys becoming top 10 players in the league.

You forgot to add

“Meanwhile while those teams get beat by golden state, we develop our young studs into thr next super team. Then 3 years from these guys are clicking on all cylinders and we win 3 titles in a row.”

And personally, I don't see LeBron coming here to play with a bunch of 21-24 year olds who's never been to playoffs before. He's in win-now mode. He won't come unless we have another superstar. Maybe I'm wrong though.

You're 100% spot on. He's looking for a 'Big 3' to be quite honest but I think one other elite player is a must.

Maybe you're more hopeful, or maybe you see something I don't see but I just can't imagine anyone on this roster becoming a top-10 player in the league which is what you need to win titles.

This is why I was so excited about bringing in Paul George and LeBron. I see BI, Ball, Kuzma, Randle flourishing as 3rd and 4th option type players. Pair our young guys with true Superstars, and would be a legit title contender. As currently constituted, will peak as a Raptors type team.

LeBron reps and Philly meeting today. But LeBron won’t be there.

Yeah, that’s gonna be a no for Philly.

If PG stayed in OKC because he didn't want to play with LeBron and then Bron ends up in Philly. Lol

Reading back through this thread after lebron makes his decision is going to be gold

This could be smoke. Doesn’t brons agent also Rep Simmons too? Could be about Ben

Somebody get atlsfinest a binkie already.

God damn man, stop cryin and whinin already.

Let the damn week play out. PG took the money, great, and Melo gutted the roster to go to the Knicks, both are examples. Us gutting our roster was not the right choice then, or now. Never will be. If Kawhi signs outright next summer, all this is for naught. If he signs elsewhere, so be it.

Calm your ti ts.

There's no "so be it".

If we completely strike out in free agency our front office has failed. End of story. And if they fail to follow through on their promises they deserve to be called out for it.

Im trying to win titles. Y'all are comfortable having young players who are just buddies on IG and Twitter.

Do we try and sign Randle to a cheap extension now? Initially I wanted the QO but that doesn't matter anymore unless we really need room for a 2nd Max this season.

You not making sense though. You just want these "big names" cuz it sounds good. That fantasy you want ain't beating GS and it's gonna be done in 3 years when Lebron is approaching 38. If you want to put yourself in the best position to win titles you look long term, not gutting a roster just to say "look I got a superstar".

BI avg 16 and showed he's a versatile player at 20 years old. Kuz was a gem for us. Lonzo is versatile. Julius got a lot better. Would be crazy to get rid of that.

What is that BI, Kuzma, Zo, Randle team winning though? None of these guys are future all-NBA players. Id bet none if those guys ever make an all-NBA team. We're a treadmill team in the making.

I see him signing the QO and becoming an UFA next offseason when the cap goes up and alot of teams have more money to spend.

How do you know this?

Russell Westbrook took like 5 years to get good. Kawhi and Giannis too.

You know who was amazing early on? Lillard! And what has that guy accomplished??

Steph was on trading block for first four years of his career. Along with Klay (see k.love trade)

This is why I was against the pressure Magic was putting on himself last year with the “we going after 2 max guys”. Just play it cool... praise the youngsters and work below the radar. Magic the original Lavar
