**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

He might be an all star this year

Does anyone know if BKN insisted on Dlo being in that trade for them to take Moz’s contract and give us an expiring in Lopez? Or did Magic decide on including Dlo instead of someone else?

I know teams tend to covet players who show out against them. And D'lo lit that *** on fire

Probably a mixture of both. Magic wanted to trade DLo. Nets were looking for low risk, high reward guys. Guys who teams gave up on

Due to how much Magic and the **** show of LA media went after DLo and damaged Russell’s value by bashing him before he even sent him out of town, he was the easiest asset for Nets to get without giving up much.

Any criticism/bashing/negativity he received in LA-- he brought on himself and deserved all of it. All of it. His play on the court was the main thing that diminished his value though. If he had been playing well nobody could have said anything except, well, that he is a dirty rat.

You can never fully shake being labeled a rat, especially in an NBA locker room setting, but if he keeps playing the way he is, people will continue to sweep that under the rug.

He deserved all the criticism he got?

Also the Nick Young thing is a nonsense reason for anyone to criticize. He made a mistake. And took ownership for it. Sat down and answered questions about it.

Yet had a good relationship with every young guy on the Lakers. And has a great relationship with everyone in the Nets organization.

Kenny Atkinson was even asked about the label Russell had coming in that he doesn’t work hard or is tough to coach and doesn’t buy in and he said it was nonsense. Magic kept throwing that **** out there. And that’s why a # 2 Pick was shipped for a salary dump.

But, What is there to sweep under the rug still?

Magic said he needed a leader at the PG position so that probably had a lot to do with it.

DLo is a heck of a player, a leader tho? Probably not. Sometimes it takes a trade to light a fire in someone. He sees his buddies KAT and Book get paid and he also sees his buddy Ulias and the pick after him Okafor nearly out of the league. So yes by now I would hope Nets DLo is better than the Lakers DLo.

It's not that hard to understand that a lot of guys don't like what he did and will not forget it. Mistake or not.

Just because you sat down and answered questions about it and took ownership of it, doesn't undo anything.

As far as his play with the Lakers went- the reports at the time where that Magic and co. didn't like his worth ethic. Byron HATED him. Luke was not a fan despite giving politically correct answers about him when asked. DLo wore out his good will with the team.

He was Mitch and Jimmy's pick, Magic and Rob wanted their own guy.

I'd rather have Zo and his work in progress offense. And yes I realize that Zo is roughly half the offensive player that DLo is, but Dlo will never be a quarter of the defender that Zo is. The jury is still out on Zo as a consistent scorer.

July:

Magic: we don’t want boogie bc he can’t help us til January. We’ll take Beasley.

January:

Magic: we need more help. Wish we had boogie type player

Im under the assumption that to take Mozgovs salary + get Brooke’s expiring back the Nets asked for one of the young core, and with Lonzo locked at #2 d’lo was the expendable one

Ehhhh Dlo is gon a wanna get paid this offseason and that would blow our chances at a big named FA this summer. Gonna be interesting to see what type of contract Dlo gets this summer.

Dlo will be fine :lol
I don’t see him playing bad after getting paid.

But who cares. The Lakers were never gunna pay him 20 million dollars a year. They’re going for an established superstar with their cap space this summer as they should be.

I’ll always root for Dlo & Randle, but this was always the correct course of action for the Lakers. If they sign a 2nd max free agent, EVERY SINGLE MOVE WORKED OUT PERFECTLY.

never change essential, never change :rollin

Hypothetically speaking, would you guys want Mike Conley in the summer if the team strikes out in free agency?
