**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

So just to be clear what season is ok to start critiquing players? On both sides? Because if some can't do the negatives then this whole he's at such and such point compared to x,y,z player should be out as well correct? Let's all agree to wait until age 23 since 20 seems to be too short and 25 is too long. Cool?

Traditionally this should be a favorable game for LA.. Been in town since yesterday. Portland just had a shootout with the Warriors last night, and had to travel back to Portland.

But because it's in Portland, not so much.

No, but I think we are all a bit too mature in here not to be objective. Thats my own personal issue. I don't see any objectivity. Its great to critique. But there is a huge difference from critiquing vs already having your mind made up and not being objective.

No one in the world said wait until 25 to start to critique any players game. But how in the world do you no what a finished product is gonna be out the gate.

Whats the point of crying about tanking every year and wanting high draft picks if you can't be patient and go through the development pains with them :lol

What's the point of saying a players PER 36 is on par with Kyrie, CP3, Magic, and Goku right now when they clearly aren't playing those minutes or have anywhere close to the physical attributes of the aforementioned? We're all just shooting the ****, the elitism and my way is the highway is annoying on both sides.

Bulls shopping Jimmy Buckets, per Bucher

Can have everyone but Russell, Ingram & Randle..

But again... Bucher >:

And Nance :lol

Love Nance, but if Russell, Ingram & Randle are not up for discussion (they shouldn't be for anybody but a few guys, Butler is not one of them), then Nance & Clarkson would have to be sent out

Because they wouldn't take Deng, because of rebuilding, it would allow us to move Deng to most of his minutes at the 4.

But again it's Ric Bucher

I'd like to see your annoyed tone with the opposite side of the argument though.

Is that Russell's fault that he's not playing 36 minutes a game? Nobody on the team is getting more than 29. Byron only played Clarkson over 30 last season.

Had Russell been playing 30 out the gate, like he should have been, and like he should be now.. then it would be no problem. That also goes with Randle & Ingram as well. No real reason they shouldn't be playing 30.

But we've had this discussion before... PER 36 is a pretty reliable when you use it in comparison of guys who are playing 25+ minutes. Not like we're comparing an 8 minute bench guy to a 36 minute guy. It's a way to try to hold things constant. Because unless they played the same exact minutes, a comparison is even more filled with statistical sample error

EVEN THEN.

If you just compared their PER GAME (which would have the caveat of Russell is at a disadvantage because he's playing 10 less minutes a game than some of them, therefore wouldn't be able to accumulate a couple extra points, assists, and an extra rebound... He's within ear shot of all of them (CP3, Wall, Westbrook, Lillard, Steph)

(To take a twist a bit, to get the stats you want Russell to have, that not a single one of them had in their second year, there has never been a guy to average 19/4/7 in less than 30 minutes.. It's legitimately never happened. So you shouldn't expect Russell to do it either.... Hell 19/4/7 is averaged by like 5 guys maximum a season)

But with lacking all of those physical attributes of those aforementioned, he's within the range of them. With all his lack of speed, lazy, Hollywood, whatever new thing we say, he's not a million miles away, he's a lack of an extra handful of minutes away

Why is it that 2 NBA coaches don't think he should get more minutes?

Maybe if he played an extra 5-8 minutes he would do more harm than good at this stage of his career (in the coaches eyes)

Your diatribe was unnecessary. I don't know why he can't play 35 minutes a game under 2 different coaches now. Maybe he's not ready for that responsibility yet? Maybe the coaches are idiots and holding him back? I don't really care.

My point was what's good for the goose is good for the gander, y'all want people to stop critiquing the players b/c their too young. The other side needs to do the same. Don't put him on a pedestal that clearly he hasn't earned yet. I don't really care either way I just want us to tank. The kids are going to be what they're going to be. What you, I, or anyone else thinks or believes they are or aren't doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

BINGO

going to be interesting to see how Dlo plays on the road vs. a great PG tonight

He needs to stay agressive and confident after his 2 hot shooting games at home. It would be nice to see him get in the paint and attack the rim a little bit too.

I've seen a lot of pedestal creation for Ingram, that our other guys don't get.... And for some of the most outlandish reasons possible. So spare me the pedestal line.

A lot of give Ingram time, he'll be fine, he's learning his role... That nobody else has gotten.. Hell Russell is apparently already on the clock, and seemingly has been on the clock since 2015 Summer League.

A bit of objectivity, and consistency is what is lacking from a lot of the criticism.

There's been plenty of dolling out of criticism for Russell, Clarkson, Ingram, Randle from guys like CP, P, myself, and others (who are pointing out there's more to the idea of "potential" that some of you think isn't going to come, there's actual proof that they have something)

Sports are results driven.. No matter how bad you want it to be, everything you see, or feel in your gut, there is something that can prove it. The results show you something, but some decide to completely ignore it for whimsical reasons.

Tonight is Game #3 of the DLo consistency watch.

DLo's minutes will be directly correlated to his performance on the court. Which is why he plays less than 30 min when he plays poorly and why he's been playing more than 30 min the last few games since his performance has gotten better.

He's averaged 31.5 min in six of the last 7 games. In those 6 games, his numbers are as follows:

17.8 ppg, 5.2 apg, 3.8 rpg, 1 spg, .426 FG%, .431 3-pt FG%

What we as fans want to see from DLo is consistency, energy, and effort. Even D-Fish and Worthy have talked about DLo taking plays off.

Also, another possible reason why DLo wasn't getting more than 30 min per game could be his bum knees.

Yes, why wasn't DLo getting more minutes as a 19 year old, under Byron Scott? That's a very valid question. :lol

Byron. Scott.

Why would ANYONE care or want answers from that dude? That's like asking Chris Broussard for reasons on things.

Ingram is a ROOKIE who's playing out of position 9 times out of 10. Cut it out.

Ingram will be criticized NEXT year if he's still making similar mistakes and isn't learning from it and...wait for it....if HE DOESN'T BRING FORTH MAX EFFORT like DLo has been showing at times throughout this year.

Let's also be fair, D'Lo wasn't getting more minutes earlier because Lou was on a tear and Clarkson was playing moderately well.

He's playing LESS under Luke's than he did Byron.

Ingram has played most of his minutes at SF.... You know, his actual position.

8 of his top 10 lineups are him playing at SF, and I'm willing to bet that the 2 that are at SG, were when DLo was out, for a fact one of them is because it's a lineup with Calderon

But sure Russell never played out of position, he was never seen as a combo guard... Nor was he learning the toughest position in the NBA.

Playing hard and giving effort should be a no brainer regardless of age

I know my low point with Dlo was when he would turn it over, get ripped or blocked and not run hard back on D. Hell, when I hoop and get rejected like DRose did to Dlo, I'm so mad I run back and get in that guys jersey. Show some intestinal fortitude out there young buck!!

Those are inherent traits that will translate to fearlessness and focus in future playoff games and I want to see that from him. If he's not that type of person, fine, but we can criticize him for not playing hard
