**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

I wonder if there was a faction of Suns fans who didn’t want to give up Hornacek, Lang and Perry for Barkley :lol

Or Celtics fans who didn’t want to give up a young stud like Al Jefferson for an aging Garnett

This is AD y’all. At age 26

Thing that bothers me is Kyrie trade didn’t cost ****. Kawhi didn’t cost ****. Paul George didn’t cost ****. Porzingis didn’t cost ****. Etc. everyone was acquired at a fraction of the cost

Now if you want to say AD has more value than each of those that’s a discussion worth having. But he shouldn’t be commanding 3x as much as those players. Especially when we have ALL the leverage. One of BI/Zo and Kuz and the #4+future draft picks is more than fair. And it exceeds any package either of those players yielded.

It’s one of those things where do you give into this “Lakers tax” the league has implemented and allow teams now and in the future to finesse us. Like inflating prices when a rich person enters the store. Or do we stay firm and force the league to operate fairly.

The pelicans are going to accept the best offer whether that’s from the lakers or the Shanghai tigers. There is no reason to overpay when the alternative for the pelicans is to accept Kevin Knox and Dennis Smith Jr and #3. Or Jaylen brown /#14+ future firsts. Or let AD walk for nothing. If they want to take a far inferior offer over pride then they are doing themselves a disservice..

If we’re firm and give them a reasonable offer then they will take it. There is no reason to give them everything

Uhh yea. Lakers are stupid as hell if they give up 3 assets for AD.

Well one of those assets is injury prone with a loud mouth dad who will talk **** about Gentry and Griffin

Another asset just had a scary blood clot issue no matter how many times he’s cleared and we’re told it was not serious. It’s still a blood clot issue that other teams may be scared of

It still has to be BI + Kuz/zo for the money work tho right?

No trade can't be official until after the draft and FA starts anyway we'll have actual cap space them after renouncing free agents. Only need to match salaries if a max free agent agrees to sign.

Long term money wise we have to give up 2 of the core if not now we’d let them walk for nothing later

There’s a whole lot of traction on this trade. If we don’t get it done I’ll be even more disappointed than last trade deadline.

What would the cost look like if we keep Zo or BI in a trade for AD and sign a max FA? Theoretically we sign the FA, sign AD to an extension/Max contract, sign Zo/BI to their extension and go over the cap doing so. I’m assuming the tax bill would be crazy but doable...?

i think if we get AD and have Lebron, the ONLY way we can offer the max someone this summer is to trade everyone else anyways. Maybe we wanna keep Kuz so bad bc he only makes like 2 mill a year vs BI who makes way more (like 8 or 9 right?)
