**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Pretty pathetic that we need a 38 year old to play every game to have any chance of winning

The guy can’t even load manage without putting us at a big disadvantage

Meanwhile teams like the Clippers keep winning regardless of whether Kawhi or PG are in the lineup

Terrible roster construction

National media lol. Team only has two tradeable picks.

what kind of bull **** propaganda is this?

shams on jeanies payroll now?

what a weird thing to lose your credibility over

even tho i too thought we only had 2 picks just a month ago

Clippers have a competent GM and Jerry West as an advisor.

We have Rob and Klutch...

So how come everyone talks about the lakers shopping the 27 and 29 picks in a trade? Why not the 26 and 28 picks if we own those?

All the reports over the past few months implied the lakers only have the 27 and 29 first round picks to offer.

I’m glad we have more assets than I thought - we actually own all first round picks starting in 2026.

Can't trade 2026 because the Pelicans may want 2025.

Stephien Rule.

They have 6 of their next 7 1st round picks. This year is a swap tho.

Jeanie and Rob are running a real live shell game right now and people don't see it. What a joke.

West isn't really up for grabs like y'all are suggesting when literally every year one of our superstars is out for an extended period. The 'when healthy' caveat or nobody wants to see Bron and AD in a 7 game series is moot and fantasy.

So **** it, don't even try?

Will never understand that logic. From fans (especially) all the way up to the team owner.

Blow it up. We’ve had a 3-season case study that they can’t stay healthy. Each season they get older and less likely to stay healthy

They turned the roster over 3 straight summers (much at the behest of the 2 superstars) trying to improve, fix, supplement these 2 guys but they can't stay healthy, bottom line.

Y'all want to rant and rave about the Clippers, Jerry West and their ownership but what exactly have they accomplished in this same period and why has that been the case? Most depth in the league yet it doesn't really matter cause their stars are always hurt.

We got one chip outta the Bron-AD duo, that's a success. All of the hand wringing over the roster is justified in aspects, but the propensity to want to compound on a lost cause at this point just doesn't make sense.

This summer and the future has to be protected at all costs and not compromised by some faux competing or delusion that there's light of we could only get healthy or that some combination of Kuz, Caruso, Hield, Turner or whomever would have drastically changed our fortunes.

Bottom line, you have to make a decision one way or the other immediately. You either go all in (move the 27-29 picks) and try to max out what you have left of LeBron.

Waiting til next year does what? Makes him even older and more mileage on that engine.

I'm fine either way, but they gotta stop straddling and pick a damn lane. Either go all in for this year with Steph/Booker beat up and try to make a run at it, or tear it down a little and try to add pieces for the next phase.

Sadly, LeBron chasing Kareem is probably not helping. He's only a few weeks away from the record, he doesn't want to sit out and rest so at the very least he can be in the best possible shape for next season.

You're putting a ton a faith in Jeanie/Buss family and Rob Pelinka who have given you no reason to do so.

But cool, I'll play

They trade Bron/AD this summer. Get expirings, a couple decent young players and some picks. Then what? Treadmill in hopes you get another generational talent who wants to come to LA? Or outright tank in hopes you eventually you draft another Magic/Kobe. And then your still going to need another Kareem/Shaq/Bron too.

I understand the position you and many others are taking. I just think that A. they can compete this season and beyond if they get the right mix of players and youth and B. the alternative puts you in an unenviable position and you'll eventually 3-4-5 years from now be trying to replicate where you are now.

If this is the route Jeanie planned to take, she should've put her cards on the table this past summer before Bron signed. Tell AD and Bron you'll try and move them to their desired location if possible, let Rustle command the tank and expire at season's end. But she knows that wouldn't go over well with Laker Nation and would get killed in the media. You can't fence ride as ownership.

I know the attachment isn't the same at all, but imagine if this was Magic-Kareem or Kobe-Pau with the caveats of advanced age and injuries. Ya'll would be saying GO FOR IT and would be willing to live with whatever happens in 2027-2029.

They did that. They got 38 year old Steve Nash. To go with 483 year old Kobe and Pau. :lol

If we can pull in some guys, ya know, in their 20's still......with Bron/AD, then maybe that can help not have them be leaned on as heavy.

My overall point is stop efffing tap dancing in the middle of the league. (Thee absolute worst place to be in.)

Either go all in, 5 years from now be damned, OR, tear it down to the studs. Sell off AD, move Bron if he wants, send Russ home, tear the payroll down to lint, get any pieces/picks you can get, and start to build with whatever youth you want/net in any trade(s).

Pick one. Stop living in mediocrity where nothing will change.

Exactly. We went through like four years of exhaling whether our pick was gonna be given away or not during the tank years and all things considered it wasn't so bad (pick that became Mikal Bridges). :lol
