**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

The full statement was in response to a question about how long Lebron wants to play… He said he still feels like he has a lot of give from a bball standpoint but wants to compete for championships. Talked about how his kids are getting older and playing games just to play them while missing out on family time might not be worth it…or at least he’s starting to have those thoughts.

Lebron can’t be traded this season, so there’s not really any pressure that can be applied to the front office right again. He’s also been in the league long enough to know that ain’t nothing happening this time of the year, but I’m sure it’s still a frustrating situation to be in nonetheless. That’s what it comes off to me more than anything but I’m sure will see it differently

Basically Jeanie & Rob when LeBron signed that extension

So he's at playing out this contract. He'll be going until at least 40 then.

weenie and bob are content with just making money.

just like with kobe and his dreadful last years here.

hope lebron is here til he retires.

its the only thing worth watching lakers games for.

The Lebron thing is really weird

Like he’s clearly a top 10 player

Yet no teams will offer an attractive trade package for him this summer

Yet no teams sent him a signal that they will offer him the max this summer, so he extended with the lakers after multiple seasons of poor roster management around him

Must be a mix of his age and mileage, and teams not wanting to deal with the Lebron/Klutch controlling a franchise. When he was younger, every team wanted him no matter what

He's not taking accountability either.

Rob being incompetent and Lebron having a part in where the team is currently at aren’t mutually exclusive to me.

Like Rob got way too cute after 2020 and messed up a good thing and that shouldn’t be lost in any of this.

But Lebron openly pushed for the Westbrook trade, only to downplay his influence and distance himself from it last year when things were going bad. He’s made it clear that he prefers the F them picks approach and is only concerned about right now moves even if they won’t make them a championship contender now, and would be detrimental to the long term interests of the franchise (which he has no interest in being around for)

The dude has historically pushed for all in, win now moves, and starts making his exit once the long term ramifications of said moves start to kick in.

Yeah ultimately it’s on the gm to make moves or not make moves. But let’s be real. This is a league where superstar players have way more influence and input than other sports. If they don’t make the Westbrook trade or if they don’t say F them picks, your star player is going to make it clear they aren’t happy, be it directly, indirectly, or subliminally.

As Lizakers Lizakers mentioned. If Lebron felt or knew behind the scenes that there was an organization which was an attractive option to him which was willing to give him the max and the prime Lebron free agency treatment, I doubt he signs the extension to begin with.

I really don't remember people complaining about that 2021 team before the season. Everybody understood that you needed depth pieces after a short offseason and nobody really liked Danny Green anyway. Almost the entire championship core was still in tact and they added the top 2 6moy candidates. Biggest issue was that they didn't have a real center and signed a washed Gasol at the 11th hour. And they still started 21-6 and managed an elite defense for a while even with AD out. A repeat was unrealistic after the shortest offseason in history and injuries derailed everything. Beyond that it was almost strictly the Russ trade that torpedoed the past 2 seasons

The two biggest agencies not doing business with the Lakers in the future would be hilarious and well deserved.

Letting two assets (rotation players!!) walk out the door without any compensation was arguably just as damaging as the Russ trade imo.

I do recall a lot of people in their feelings…just like Magic … cheering how Dennis left the team, joking about the money he lost and how he wasn’t fit to be a Laker and all that.

Whatever happened in the past is done…don’t really matter to me how and why the Lakers got to this point. I said a while back that I didn’t believe in the long term health of AD/Lebron in order to put all of the chips on the table. This season is a wash, and in the summer they should explore Davis trades and see if there’s a win now team that makes sense to do the same with Lebron.

Hot streak has upped him to 35% from three for the season. I think he was at 31% before the Magic game. :lol

Don't play midgets like a college bball team!

Please know, I wasn't referring to you, I'm talkin about Raj and all the other blogger/media types.

It's the second of a back to back, without AD, you don't really have a lot of taller options as it is. So no matter what combo he uses, he's gonna lose the game.

If he uses "taller" players, that equally aren't any good, here's his tweet:
Taller guy with this other taller bum and this other tall smuck were -25 net, including Lebron, their offensive rating was 78. These lineups can't buy a bucket.

They just pivot from the small lineup can't defend to the taller lineup can't score and both are ****ing stupid. You have a lesser team, on the road, back to back, your best player is out, your second best player is 38. It doesn't matter who gets played, this roster isn't good. It's not like he's sitting studs on the bench. It is such a myopic view to continually, coach after coach, blame "lineups" for why you aren't winning games.

I said this about a billion times. Don't matter who the suit is, crap roster loses games and folks shout about lineups. Ya know what teams don't complain about lineups? Really good rosters. Can even be the same guys in suits. ;)
