**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Here’s a media head admitting that the NBA trade hype is mostly bologna. You don’t have to read the entire thing, this is probably the most important part:

It’s better to suck in the present and next season or so as opposed to mortgaging the future to maybe make the second round if all the stars align only to going right back to sucking again with minimal assets/flexibility.

100% agreed.

There hasn't been one deal I have seen that would make us a title contender.

Maybe there is something in the off season that pops up. Plus once we know what we are doing with this years pick, something could open up.

But trading those two picks now for something that just gets us bounced in the 2nd round doesn't make much sense.

And really if we can't get a full year of AD, we are never gonna be a true contender.

All this talk about Lebron and trade requests… AD has one more year before his player option. There’s going to be absolutely nothing around him but a 40 year old Lebron. Why in the world would he stick around for 4 more years?

The plan is to get someone this summer that will compliment him going forward ie another star. But, I think they'd trade him if he indicates he's going to opt out, he is a superstar with a body made of glass, can't count on him to anchor your franchise post Bron.

AD is a generational talent.

But you know he is going to miss 25 plus games a year.

I mean even if he doesn’t give any indication of opting out, how do you think it’s going to look a year or two down the road with AD man?

Not good. He's going to miss 20 games so you need someone that's as good as him to anchor plus supplement around them. Idk them NO teams ceiling even with him being all NBA in both ends was a 50 win ish team. Ideally you'd pair him with a dynamic guard (Myrie) but yea that's a whole nother can of worms.

as a fan you want to win now. not looking 5 years from now and hoping a draft pick will make your team a playoff team another 5 years later.

when we were sucking *** with kobe nobody wanted him traded. we knew there was no hope but we still got to witness one of the greats in his final career moments.

you not getting much for lebron so whats the point?

we are in hell right now because anthony davis cant play

front office job is to atleast get us into the playoffs and pray ad can come back in time to do damage

you do that by gambling with trades just like you would gamble on the draft picks you get and the players you choose.

lord knows this franchise isnt exactly great in picking winners high in the draft

deangelo russell, lonzo ball, julius randle.... then we were chasing lemarcus aldridge and paul george. more winners.

Gotta put on my Brosizzlew30.23 Brosizzlew30.23 hat for a minute and hit the trade machine real quick…

Yeah I know, not going to happen… 😂😂😂

But…would make sense if the Lakers could grab a couple of decent young players. Warriors would get someone to help them win now, and finally solve their Draymond problem (would prob get bought out in this scenario anyway)

*Had to add a big man since that’s the only way I’d get this approved 🤣

bruh i dont want any of those warriors players on the lakers 🤣

wiseman and kuminga have been such big dissapointments
They’re what second and third year guys who haven’t really gotten a chance to properly develop because their team is competing for championships.

Lakers will be in rebuild mode, young players and picks are what I would be targeting in any trade scenarios.

There's a scenario where CLE flames out and gets desperate and Bron is seen as the missing piece, but yea that's the only scenario I see where there would be mutual interest in a return. Miami is sputtering as well but that bridge with Riles is burned. More than likely we're stuck with him next year as well.

Sans everything that has happened since letting guys walk and bringing russ on….regardless if it was LeBron or Rob

One thing is for certain, the DECISION to stand pat on Russ and NOT move him in the summer for a refresh…has COMPOUNDED and lead us to an even worse season this year.

That’s 100% on Rob/front office. LJ may have signed off on bringing him here, but keeping him and trying to run it back this season was a HUGE RISK…one alot of us foresaw detrimentally tearing this organization down…..AND IT HAS.

Miami isn’t really one player away.

Here’s another trade scenario…I don’t know how to add picks and whatnot but there would have to be some draft compensation involved from the Nets end.

Moving him in the summer for what exactly?

They were trying to get Myrie but Brooklyn told KD to F Off

Slim Pickens when trying to find a trade partner to take Lebron

Even if he demands a trade, we probably just take back expiring contracts and 2nd round pick lol

I don’t see anyone giving up a first rounder for Lebron. Hope I’m wrong

I think this summer would’ve been the worst time to move Russ… two future unprotected picks AND an expiring contract for players like Rozier and Gordon Hayward, etc.

Just a couple of weeks ago AD was balling out of his mind, the team had a couple of good wins against good teams like the Bucks and things were looking up.

If the Big 2 could’ve remained healthy up to the trade deadline then the conversation is totally different then the one we’re having today.

Aside from 2020, they’ve been a **** show with Lebron and they’ve been an even bigger **** show without him since the 2013-14 season. Hell the warning sides were already starting to show during Phil’s last season, but they had the talent to sustain it at the time. But it’s going on a decade of mediocrity outside of 2020.

I don’t mind them seeing the writing on the wall with this current squad and tearing it down if there’s no path to getting significantly better in the present that won’t anchor them 2-3 years from now. My only problem is I don’t trust the current regime to be the ones overseeing any rebuild, nor do I trust them to effectively make any short term moves to compete now.

Realistically they likely end up trading those first round picks at some point though. It’s way more likely than not that Rob Pelinka isn’t working with the Lakers in any capacity come 2027, so for him if he trades those picks, it’s ultimately on whoever the new gm is to clean up the mess.

Imagine being “stuck” with this guy

Rob and Jeanie have to secretly hate Lebron. It’s the only explanation for the teams they have put around him.

You know the formula. Bron needs shooters and guys to defend.

We have none. NONE!
