**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Random, but thought I’d share:

My guy Brosizzlew30.23 Brosizzlew30.23 probably turning over in his grave reading this

Nah man

"The league has gotten smaller" according to Kerr.

So you use size, length, and speed to beat all the rest of the Smurfs. Jokic and the #1 Nuggets certainly don't lack size, neither do Horford, Timelord, Grant W, Kornet and the #1 Celtics.

Kerr's assessment is off and is why he won't win another chip anytime soon.

Juat look at the last few NBA champs save for the '21-22 Warriors - they ALL HAD BIGS, SIZE, AND LENGTH. LAL, TOR, MIL, CLE, MIA, SA...all of em had impact bigs all through their rosters.

In fact, had Milwaukee beaten Boston last year, the Bucks with a healthy Middleton and all their size and length IMO would've beaten GSW in the Finals

I don't buy this "league has gotten small" narrative when all the recent NBA Champs of the last decade had all kinds of size and length. Heck even the Warriors who beat CLE in the Finals 3x had guys like Bogut, Ezeli, Pachulia, McGee, David West, Mo Speights, etc etc

Only reason Kerr sees Klay as a SF/PF is cause Klay is slower defensively and his team has no impact bigs other than Dray and Looney lol

I don’t necessarily think smaller = better but if you can add shooting without sacrificing too much of your defense/rebounding I think that’s the ultimate cheat code.

Agree 100%.

The Lakers can get away with playing AD at center but you better go get another big or two who can help AD on the defensive end....hence why Javale and Dwight worked to perfection in '19-'20.

And now imagine if we added sharpshooters who all could hit timely threes in the playoffs like Glen Rice, Brian Shaw, Rob Horry, Fox, and Fisher used to do with regularity. Game over for the rest of the Smurfs.

AD at the 5 is fine with me… the problem lies when teams put him in screen actions and while he can hold his own on the perimeter whoever he switched off with (say Bev for example) gets bullied in the paint.

So if you can have length at all guard/wing positions that eliminates that scenario. Problem is getting those guys 😂

Robert Covington would be perfect for the Lakers. I've been campaigning for him to be a Laker for years.

Lakers should still have Javale McGee

Lakers had Kuzma but wanted Westbrook. Rui becomes the consolation I guess

Imagine this roster with McGee, Covington, Rui, Wenyen, and AD in the frontcourt. Add that to the guards we have now except Westbrook. Then maybe LA adds a sharpshooter like Trent Jr. or McDermott.

All of a sudden lineup is more formidable and balanced, and Lakers have a lot more options and flexibility with their defensive rotations 'cause RoCo and Javale's strengths lie in how they impact the game defensively

Interesting....

Never been a big fan of looking back and wondering what could’ve been…. But that’s a lot of guys you have there in your hypothetical rotation.

Reactions: MVP
Kerr only saying that cuz he aint got choice. Team aint got size after they drafted a bust like wiseman aka ogden 2.0

Not sure about the no choice part.

Honestly I think Klay and Wiggins are just switching roles on defense between 3/4 in their smaller lineups but if they’re just going to switch everything it don’t really matter.
