**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Rui needs more minutes. Bron gotta come out hot again. AD gotta step up. Not sure what to do with AR. This ain’t his series.
Not sure why we can’t match jamychal green with rui

D’lo on Klay
Vandy in steph
Rui on j green
Lebron on wiggins
Ad on draymond

Live in the paint. Attack.

Yes, more minutes for Rui, more shots for Rui. When AD is on the bench, I'd like to see more of WG, Rui, and Bron in the frontcourt with Rui being featured on offense.

AR will play better at Staples.

A slight tweak I'd like to see is for Bron to switch it up and handle the rock more as the point forward on offense since AR is struggling. Have AR play more off ball to get himself going offensively.

In games 1 and 2, Bron played off the ball a lot, even Draymond was saying in his podcast that they're not used to seeing that and that they'd have to adjust the way they play LeBron as a result.

Lakers gotta switch up the scheme, move Bron back to playmaking forward. Then when AR finds his groove, he can start initiating the PNR again. Gotta keep Kerr guessing throughout the series.

If I'm Ham, I'd even go with more Lonnie this series purely for his athleticism and energy alone and flat out just bench the useless Beasley.

This series probably prevents the FO from doing anything cute in the off-season.

What I mean by that is letting assets walk out of cheapness (Beasley and Bamba). No they won’t be on the team next year, but pretty important salaries to package together for something.

They’re not going to pivot off of Bron/AD. And
DLo/Reaves/Rui/Vando provides quality middle depth. Having $25mil to trade around allows them to fill in the holes that the team has. A legit catch and shoot specialist. Perimeter defense. And backup 5.

We might have to stick with the shooters we got because who's out there that's a specialist? We definitely need another 6'10 guy that can rebound. This team clicked immediately. A off-season with this group, AR making leaps every year. Vando will be better, Dlo will get his money. We good.

Then there's Bron and AD's health...

Honestly the guy the Lakers could be the team they want and need to be and could be available is OG.

But who the hell knows what the Raptors will do and ask for.

OG provides 3 things the Lakers would need: someone who could let LeBron stay fresh through another season or two. A 3 point shooter. And top end defender.

Raptors wanted 4 picks for OG. Maybe they settle for 2.

I still think the Lakers win this series. But the gaps the losses to Grizz and GS have shown that depth above everything is the sore spot for LA in key positions 2/3/5

Thinking tonight we get another classic bounce back game 3 from LAL and the refs. Only GSW is a smarter team than MEM. LAL should win, preferably by double digits (following the usual game 3 script), but could see a late run from GSW like in game 1 and MEM in game 3.

Keep AR starting, but if he struggles early, maybe get Lonnie some minutes. Preferably with the starters (DLo/Bron/AD) at some point and see what he could give you. Bring AR back in to lead the bench on ball with Schroder. Whoever's playing well can close. Monty switched it up last night with Landale, might be time for Darvin to make a move.

AD bounce back game, role players play better at home, Lakers by 6.

Would like to see Vando ramp up closer to his game 1 minutes of 26 instead of 20 minutes (game 2). Can’t lose the rebound battle (by 15 in game 2) with the bigger team

He has to contribute something to offense. Can’t let Steph rest and not make them pay

Vando makes Steph work the most while defending him (picks him up full court and denies him), last game they tried more team defense of Steph and let the other beat you. Everyone else made open shots, and Steph had 12 assists.

Should be playing Draymond and Looney off the court if they’re not contributing on offense using same logic

Looney got double digit rebounds + fiests on the boards while the defense is scrambling and Draymond kills on the short roll. It’s not the same thing at all.

Besides the occasional wide open corner 3, Vando is a negative on offense. Gotta figure out a way to get more from him on offense.

Don’t think Vandos offense is really the make-or-break, can’t remember the last time he took more than 10 shots. Plenty of offense coming from every other player on the team. Best defender on Steph, help defender, and good rebounder is what Vando is giving, if don’t value that, start Rui and let Steph cook

Expecting to see Vando on Klay if he's starting. They're not gonna run the offense thru him like they did with Steph so you can just face guard him all day. Austin is too little and slow getting around screens. He's their most important player in this matchup

I understand what he brings to defense. I’m just telling you that if you don’t have to guard him, it’s 4 on 5 on offense. That makes it harder to score. That makes it easier to defend AD. That makes it easier for GS to get rebounds and transition buckets.

I’m not saying don’t start him, the Lakers just need to figure out a way to make Vando have an impact on offense. Make him set 100 ball screens or something. Idk. That issue has to be addressed though.
