**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

What's funny is saying that D'Lo is gonna lose his job or become expendable. For one that's not how lonzo plays. And then I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Jackson is the pick
I think ppl need to go back and watch Lonzo so they know what to expect.

I love his game but he's not the "savior."

He's going to have a lot of nights where he puts up pedestrian numbers.

Gonna be ******* AWESOME in summer league when Ball starts getting hated on.

Then BI in year two gonna start catchin the treatment.

Nance, Zu, Black, Randle just gonna quietly slide by

DLo and Clarkson will be doin work but get no praise for it.

Rinse and repeat year after year.
On the ******* clock....

 I actually like that one.

Y'all really think Dlo would be a good NBA shooting guard?

Would he be top 15 at his position?

Harden
Klay
Booker
Beal
Jimmy B
McCollum
Demar
Wiggins

Then you have the next tier:

Wade
Oladipo
Hood
Reddick
Fournier
Middleton
Gordon
KCP
Batum
Danny Green
Lavine
Avery Bradley
Wes Matthews

If lonzo shows no speed or athleticism in summer league a la Dlo, then yep

If BI gives up running back on D after bad passes and turnovers, then yep

I said it before, CJ was 22 when he came in. To say Dlo can't be better than him is dumb.

You already putting Book in that top tier but Dlo can't be better than Danny Green??

This is what we're talking about man.

Yeah, he is better than some on this list already and can be better than some too.
And this is coming from a guy who can't stand Russ

Ingram wasn't even good defensively last season. Everything points to that. But no one wanted to notice it.

Obviously he has all the tools to be great on that end, but on court production didn't showcase that. Not blaming him at all. He's 19.

Plenty of times where Ingram was just floating out there on the court too.

And let me just say one last thing. How and why did the so called unathletic, no work ethic young guy outperform all our other young guys?

CJ creates space and can score in many ways, he's quick, athletic and can finish in traffic. I see Dlo as a catch and shoot guy who can use a screen for a midrange shot or floater in the lane

CJs skills are superior

I mean it's fitting that we criticize one guy for his attitude. Yet same dudes praise another guy who is coming in with an attitude. "I won't work out for you" "Don't draft me." Etc.

It's fine to criticize Russell, but at least keep it consistent.

I hate this thread :{

Lonzo :hat

I'm conflicted. I want shorty to flourish at the highest level....but that means the Lakers actually being successful. Can you imagine the latter? Terrible :x

Y'all don't deserve the Big Baller Brand the way y'all throwing salt on the lor ***** name just to appease Dlo.

Lonzo and Lavar deserve that red carpet for real.

Seriously ppl in here are the worst. ****** cry about any and everybody. And want their players to be robots :{ no personality no nothing. So ironic seeing as we had the goat kobe

Something gotta shake this season. Can't deal with another losing tank thread

CJ is 25...but yall  aint waiting for d'lo to turn 25 before saying hes not gonna improve.

I've said it before, an extra few years don't make you quick, or athletic. He's a slow-motion point guard with "old man game" and he was like that at 19, so it won't change. That doesn't mean he won't be a good player, I just don't think it fits with today's NBA, especially at the PG position where the great ones are dynamic and always attacking to put the defense on its heels

CJ came in at 22 though and has said he knew that 3rd year was make or break for him. As it is with most guys as far as teams really deciding whether to stick with you long term or not. See the Magic with Vic, Greek Freak in MIL or even GS choosing Steph over Monta.

Also part of the reason LA ain't offering Randle an extension now.

Well Lonzo ball isnt changing that either.  The guy got most of his points off of long, uncontested 3s and off-ball cuts to the basket.  If you are looking for a dynamic pg, Lonzo isnt going to be the replacement for DLo.

I know, I struggle with that. I'm not entirely on board with Lonzo either. but he pushes the ball and plays more uptempo and catches lobs for dunks, so he's already ahead of Dlo in speed and athleticism

That's all I'm saying.

At 25, yes he's better than Dlo at all of those things you mentioned.

But he actually isn't that quick or athletic, he has a crazy handle and wet jumper. Which gets better as you mature.

My main point is that you wouldn't have even seen CJ get to this point because you would've wanted him gone before he even played a single game.

You can't watch games and say that Dlo doesn't have a nice handle and jumper. Give him 2 years, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he's on that level.

He is definitely better than Dlo in the open floor but to get out and running consistently you have to get stops and that is a thing this team struggles with.  DLo probably shouldnt even be a point guard anyways.  He should be playing off the ball.  Someone like Fox who gets to the basket a lot would compliment him really well because someone else would be drawing the defense in.  Lonzo couldnt beat LaVar off the dribble at this point.

CJ proved he was a bonafide baller in his 3rd year. D'Lo is going into his 3rd #ontheclock.

I respect your points, but I wouldn't call Dlo's shot a "jumper". It's a set shot a la Rick Fox that needs a lot of space to get off and he can't shoot it with much accuracy off the dribble. He doesn't really "jump" when he shoots like a lot of great scorers do. But he has that quick flick release like Steph that help him get the shot up over defenders guarding him tight, but those shots have been low accuracy and high degree of difficulty for Dlo thus far.

What is this "needs a lot of space to get the shot off argument? See it with lonzo too.

Every shooter except for Steph needs a lot of space. That's why you have to improve ball handling to create that separation.

I don't think dlo is great at it yet but he's definitely shown that he should be able to get to his spots and knock it down.

Add that to his post game and passing, he can be really good.

All about his attitude and approach, which is a big question mark at this point.
