**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

I can see Klay coming here to complete the cycle - born and raised in So Cal as a Laker fan, idolized Kobe, dad was a Laker champion and current Laker employee……come home and be a bench shooter. He can be 6 man of the year just off catch and shoot threes from Lebron

Also, he’s a west coast guy. Goes out on the water a lot, rides his bike to the arena…..can’t see him in a cold weather city like Philly

Klay's situation mirroring Ray Allen when he left Boston for Miami. Tired of being disrespected in his eyes, goes to join a hated LeBron team. Chip next?
Feel like the Warriors catered to Klay, while Boston was always trying to trade Ray.

Klay is a bit delusional. Playing off AD and LeBron should open up a lot of things for him though.

Wasn't one of his major gripes that the Warriors benched him for a few games. He acted like he was dying in those interviews.

If Warriors sign and trade Klay. Same rules apply have to stay under $179mil.

But does make the path a bit different.

Wouldn’t trade anything of significant value for Klay salary wise.
Gabe for Klay.
But LeBron’s pay cut would be less. Probably $10is mil as opposed to $19mil

Then get out of 2 minimum guys (Cam and Hayes) to get a couple mil more.

Then JHS & Wood can get you an $8-9mil center.

😂

“The audience not dumb. Shape the stories how you want..Hey, DLo they're not slow”

No one is falling for it dude, see ya in China buddy

Had time to do the math.

if it’s a sign and trade….

-Gabe for Klay (any other player that’s ahead in the depth chart is dumb, want to throw them some form of capital on top, sure).
-Bron only has to take a $10mil pay cut in this case. Have about $3mil, maybe closer to $4mil depending on the exact dollar amount left over under the first apron. (He takes a bigger cut, gives them more space).

Next step is Center:
-JHS, Wood and Max Lewis is enough salary to take back an $11mil center
Or if Bron is willing to take a $15mil pay cut.
They can dump Cam and Hayes with seconds to other teams and have the full MLE.

You can get Klay and the MLE for the cost of Gabe, Cam and Hayes, some seconds and maybe a heavily protected first.

Roster would look like:
DLo, AR, Klay, Max, Knecht, Bronny
Bron, Vando, Rui, Wood
AD, Backup Center

Still have JHS and Max Lewis to try and get a better fit young guy at the 3/4/5. As there’s a bunch of guards already.

Then you have Rui and Vando to see if there’s any 3s worth going after. Or DLo + one of them for a certified and current all star 3.
Or stay with it from there. Every role outside of Bron and AD becomes super specific and pretty watered down in terms of what is needed.

So why would Klay turn down low 20M from warriors for MLE from us? Am I missing something? Is it just about principle?

Klay is a prideful dude, and doesn't want to come off the bench for the young guys. So he'll look for a fresh start elsewhere, even if it means taking a paycut to do so.

I mean. But Klay as a starter elsewhere. Not great either.

The hope is it’s different in GSW than anywhere else. Because of the legacy that asking him to play 6th man is insulting. But in LA or DAL it has to be a different tune.

it would definitely be different anywhere but GS. Don’t think wherever he goes they make him the number 2 option like with GS. He comes here he’s not being asked that but it doesn’t mean he’s relegated to bench guy either.

That might actually help him out.

I see Lakers fans still think AD gonna be playing the 5 full time next season even after “The type of player that James would be willing to make a financial sacrifice for would be ... an established big man to play alongside Anthony Davis -- like Jonas Valančiūnas, sources told ESPN.”

Isn't AD at the 5 a losing proposition? Show me FACTS that say otherwise?

Also, why the hell would they "dump" Jaxson Hayes when Axtion Jaxson was the ONLY serviceable and athletic legit 5 they had to back up AD all season last year? You really think the Lakers feel like Hayes is a scrub like Reddish? Did you even watch the 2nd half of last season when Hayes played even better after Wood got injured and missed the rest of the year?

essential1 essential1

An Important Message for the “DLF’s”

Wake up delusional lakers fans. This team as currently constructed ain’t winning a title for as long as AD continues to play the 5 FULL TIME. It’s been PROVEN AS FACT time and time again yet some of you still believe a 1-Big lineup with AD at the 5 is the ticket to winning a chip. Repeating the same thing expecting different results is the definition of a DLF:rofl:
