**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Normally when teams are making it obvious they are tanking, they do it in March-April not January

Utah is going to make moves before the deadline, I’m almost sure of it

The more days pass the more I am led to believe the reason why Pelinka hasn’t traded for Valanciunas when JV has been there all along for the taking for two second rounders, is because Pelinka’s priority is to land Kessler and Sexton or Clarkson.

It’s time for Pelinka to pull the trigger and give Utah two firsts for arguably the best rim protector in the league who also happens to average 14 boards per 36 minutes.

Only right to wait if all we can get is JV and he's only commanding 2nds

Make the move Pelinka!!

Only issue is you can't start/play too much Sexton and AR.

If Sexton (who expires next year) would be willing to come off the bench........sold.

You're dealing with Danny Ainge, which means you're overpaying to get a trade done.

Is Kessler and Sexton worth two future FRPs plus unprotecting 2027?

Yes, only if the Lakers win the championship with a AD-Kessler-Bron-Sexton-DFS core, with or without AR.

And I think they can.

They surely will have a better shot to win it all with Kessler at the 5 and AD at the 4 than anything they currently have now

In a win now situation, yes. For long term, of course not.

I think John Collins would also be a good fit playing next to AD.

If Pelinka pulled off a deal where he acquired Collins and Kessler or Kessler and Sexton/Clarkson, I’d give up the first rounders without thinking twice.

Lakers have to go all in and trade those two first rounders if truly their main goal is to win a title in the next two years while Bron can still bring it.

But if this is all it would take, I’m 10000% all in

Danny gets almost $12 million in expiring contracts, plus two first rounders, and removing protections on ‘27.

For LAL, they get their big and their ball handler while keeping Rui and Vando.

It’s a win-win for everybody

All in all Lakers replace the weak links with three guys who complete the starting 5 - Kessler, AD, Bron, DFS, Sexton - while having Rui and AR come off the bench, which all of a sudden is now a legit bench mob with AR, Shake, Christie, Rui, Vando, Knecht, Jameson, and Koloko

Here’s hoping Ainge considers something like this package “major” enough for him to pull the trigger

With what my dodgers are doing with Yamamoto, ohtani and now Sasaki….

I wonder if we keep Rui long term because of the Japanese market. It’s good for business having a Laker from Japan to sell merchandise in Japan, get viewership in Japan etc

Rui reminds me of when we had Kuz. Both were scoring small forwards who can play small ball PF. Both were somewhat streaky shooters who could hit threes.

Kuz was inconsistent too, but when he played good he was a valuable piece.

Kuz came off the bench. And come off the bench is the best use of Rui. Hoochiemura has no business starting.

This dude Dan Woike has LeBron ahead of Big Game James in the “Greatest Lakers of All Time” list. LOL

Worthy played 12 seasons with LA and played 1,069 games reg season plus playoffs. 6 Finals appearances, 3 rings, 1 Finals MVP. Ntm the transition from Wilkes to Worthy took Showtime to a whole nother level. And no team in 19 years had repeated as champs until LAL did it in ‘88, the year Big Game’s nickname was coined after his stellar Finals performance.

LeBron has played 432 reg season and playoff games in 7 seasons with the Lakers. 1 Finals appearance as a Laker, 1 ring, 1 Finals MVP, and has more play-in tournament appearances than Finals appearances as a Laker lol

It’s not even a debate that Worthy is a greater Laker than Bron.

Did Woike even watch Worthy play in the 80s, doesn’t seem like he did

And how Woike gonna have Pat Riley on the list but not Phil Jackson.

Without Phil, Shaq and Kobe never get a ring in L.A. and Phil even three-peated, something Riley never accomplished.

Meanwhile Magic and Kareem both have a ring without Riley as head coach, when they won in ‘80 with Westhead.

Woike’s list is off the mark

Noah Clowney, another player the Lakers could've/should've taken over that bum JHS.
