You guys are genius!!!!!

You cracked the code. Mike needs to adopt the style of play of the Heat, only instead of LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, he can use Marshall, Nick Young, and Pau!!!!!

Yes!!!!!!!

Why didn't someone think of this beforrrrrree!?!??!!??!
:{

Mike adjusted his entire scheme last year, everything, to max out every thing we had. But now you all cryin he wont make adjustments. Because he can't get a bunch of scrubs and washed up Pau to ball like the God damn Miami Heat. :{ :{

Unbelievable.

according to this we are going to be tied for the second worse record in the league

mosk33toe mosk33toe , I'm w/ you, bruh.

Anyone who doesn't understand that a quality coach absolutely could make our team of scrubs a little better defensively, there's no point in arguing with them, because they simply lack intelligence. I'm sure they probably struggle to tie their shoes while chewing gum and an air conditioner is running; sensory overload, just way too much going on.

You and I know that no-damn-body is going to make these fools into the Bad Boy Pistons or the 2000s Spurs. But... better defensively? Yes,
a quality coach could implement a better defense. Maybe instead of the Clippers putting up 43 in the 1st, they 'only' put up 30, 35. :lol

poor offensive execution was the reason the clippers scored 43 in the first, with 4 minutes to go they were up 24-21 thats a decent score vs a decent team. from that point on we turn the ball over 7 times in the next 4 minutes and they score each time, a bunch of players that are already tired form playing too many minutes forced to defend fastbreak after fastbreak because they cant hold on to the ball. put a guy like steve nash in the game, we only have 4 turnovers and score 5 more points, thats a 10 point turnaround that has nothing to do with defense

I agree. I'm done arguing, people acting like this roster is full of incompetent players from the YMCA. These are professional athletes, who have played basketball for most of their adult lives. You can't teach them to rotate better or get in better position to play defense? Are they that bad where you can just name them and say, "How do you make these guys defensively better?".

Such a cop out way of thinking. Every good defensive team isn't loaded with amazing defensive players, yes they may have a few, even several good players, but the system as a whole makes the team good defensively. I will not concede that these Lakers are beyond fixing defensively, it's just bad coaching or in MDA's case lack of coaching.

I just don't understand why there is such a surprise about this season so far under the current circumstances.
Mike D is doing the best he can with what he's got

Marshall, never been a good defender.
Young, never been a good defender.
Meeks, never known to be a good defender.
Pau, hasn't been a good defender in 4 years.
Ryan Kelly? :lol
Chris Kaman? Not exactly a shut down defender.
Robert Sacre, average defender if we're bein kind.

Wes Johnson and Jordan Hill become the de facto "best defenders" left.

"A coach can make all these losers, a better defensive unit".

I love you guys.

By that logic any player that joins a team is a complete product. They can't grow they can't learn, they can't be put in situations to play better. These elite defensive players have been elite since they joined the NBA is that what you are saying?
I'm not asking MDA to make this the greatest defensive squad to ever play the game, but you are going to tell me he can't make them respectable? They can't improve? Why did we hire a coach that is so one sided then? We don't have the players to run his offense, so we can't use his revolutionary offense, and we are stuck with no defense. Why would we keep a coach like this around.

Unlike pure offensive talent, defense can be taught, it isn't so cut and dry that if you are a "loser" who "has never been a good defender" you will never learn how to play defense. There are defensive schemes that hide players inefficiencies on defense.

However, you can just keep blaming the personnel on everything, from the horrible defensive to the lack of offense. A real coach adapts, a real coach's job is to put his players in positions they can succeed in, MDA has done neither, and regardless of who we bring in that won't change.

Ok, fair points.

Please tell me how to devise a scheme that hides 4 poor defenders at the same time. :lol :lol :lol

I mean, that's all your asking. Take a (half) team of bad defenders and "hide" them. :lol

Haha, if I knew I wouldn't be laying in bed in my Chargers jersey watching this game.

I'm not asking much, this has been a rough season, but obviously what we've been doing hasn't been working. Can we please try to do something else? Can we focus a bit more on defense? Can we try maybe not switching everything, I keep harping on that because that sticks out the most to me, they switch everything up top and end with these huge mismatches that leads to players blowing by us and having our weak front court late to make a play.

We have quick guards and horrible defensive bigs, how about playing some zone so our bigs don't have to deal with these quick guards as much, how about trapping more or getting the ball out of the ball handlers hands. I don't know something, I just know no team should be giving up 70 points in a half regardless of NBA personnel, that has more to do with scheme than players.

And yes Kurt Rambis does deserve fault, no doubt about that. The only thing i'll say about that is when your head coach shows such a lack interest in defense it is hard for a assistant coach to get the team ready to play that defense. That isn't an excuse, I say fire the whole coaching staff and bring new people in.

All those things you just complained about, no zone, switching, etc.....

Were the same things everyone complained about Phil's Lakers.

:lol

We looked better when we were somewhat healthy but has Dantoni made any significant adjustments in his 1.25 seasons here?

This.

I thought > 50% of us on here wanted them to stink.

Mike did a decent job the first couple of weeks and got these guys to "play up" but now they are back to the horrid roster we thought they were gonna be.

Mamba stay home.

I wasn't on Team Tank early on because in my crazy Laker Fandom I thought we could make the playoffs and be a tough out for a team, however with the lack of adjustments and lack of progression this team has made, I'm all for tanking aka playing MDA basketball.

:rollin @ expecting progress on a depleted team

So you were there for their team meetings , pregame , halftime and during timeouts? Mike never talked to the team about defense during those times?

Stop assuming things based on what you see on TV

Lack of interest :lol

Cue 2nd Half of Last Season..

When it was clear that Nash wasn't going to lead the offense the way he wanted to, after giving him some time to get his legs back and get in the swing of things.. We had a terrible January, he made adjustments to the offense, we finished 28-12.
