You didn't need to type all that out P, I'm here for you.

So Nash, Kobe, Ron and Pau's old, slow moving selves didn't lead the league in defense next to Dwight?????

I'm shocked.

As for now, Baze been here 3 weeks.
Hill, DNP forever
X, missed like a month.
Wes and Sacre have been our best defenders, which should be a huuuuuuuuuuuge hint folks.
Farmar has done well, 30 missed games.
Blake is effective, missed 6 weeks.

So, why can't allllll these players, in their first year together, play elite defense??????

 These are real questions?

Would be cool if the following happened
We get a top 3 pick
Phil joins the Lakers
Phil convinces Bron to play for the Lakers

LET ME DREAM!

Sort of funny when a national writer like Ding, with inside access, speaks on the Lakers maxing out this draft pick, signing Kevin Love in 2015, and Durant in 2016 as a likely plan, and people in this very thread mock those that predict those exact same plans, and have done so for a few months now.

Correct.

Like in 2010 when some of us were pointing to the Lakers chasing Dwight Howard in 2012 and using Bynum as the bait to make it happen. (ended up being a year late)

Now the CP3 deal I didn't see coming, that one sorta came outta nowhere, but hey.

The only thing keeping me from totally losing my **** with Mitch is the prayer that he's going to be patient, develop this pick, patiently sign Love rather than trading for him, (maybe even luck into Rondo if our pick is not Exum) and hopefully have enough pieces in place for Durant to say "yeah, LA looks good" in 2016.

If that's the goal, then I will apologize to Mitch and praise him heartily for his plan.

As I've said, I HOPE Mitch proves me wrong about all these missteps lately. Hopefully his future plans are the same as mine.

Have faith in Mitch cp.

He hasn't forgotten basketball reasons.
He's still waiting to strike when no ones expecting. He'll have his revenge.

Not speaking for the masses here, but regarding these predictions and 'armchair GMs', the only people I mock or take issue with are those who vehemently insist that what they say is solid gold.

Ain't nobody mocking your 'highly likely' plan.

I'm mocking those of you that have completely lost touch with the fact that you are NOTHING to the Lakers FO.

You're a fan.

You don't sign players. You don't structure contracts. You don't sub players in or out. You don't scout, lure, or entice. You don't run practice.

You don't run a damn thing, actually.

Remember that.

Just a fan.

A fan with a lot of knowledge on caps and unions and MLEs and what not? Sure.

Still just a fan. I come at those who seem to have forgotten that. Your extensive knowledge makes you better than me by approximately 0% (give or take 0). Your extensive knowledge gives you more of a handle on possibilities, but your contribution to the actual Lakers is still zippo, which makes you exactly that much more of a fan than me: zippo.

It's clear his days of highway robbery acquisitions are over

there's no doubt that if i was in a janitorial role, i would have tried to convince kobe to take less while he's taking a dump...and he would listen, because he's out of toilet paper

"You need some TP, I need about 28 mil shaved off that number you've got floating in your head that you're about to present in negotiations."

Totally agree with you.

My fanship, no better than your fanship.

We root the same, but different. Which is totally fine, and acceptable. I take no issue with how you root for your squad.

But I do take issue with those that come in here, and try to tell me that throwaway lottery pick __ is the same as future lottery pick __.

Or the ones that INSIST that the luxury/repeater tax is harmless, and meaningless to us, when every, single, solitary, NBA contributor, writer, reporter speaks over and over on the harshness of those very taxes.

I take issues with the ones who while mocking me or others like me as "fake GM's" then give their own "fake GM" plans, like giving a bunch of money to another old guy that hasn't been good in 4 years, and Carmelo, sprinkled in with whatever draft pick, and we're set. When just about anybody with a brain can look at that and see that's not going to win a title, ever. (the ultimate goal)

I'm no genius. Hell, I'm not even smart. But I can look at a group of guys, and see who "might" MIGHT, have a shot at doing something of value (win a title) vs a group of guys that will win 50 games and bounce out like George Karl was coachin em every year.

So if those folks want to throw stones at myself, or Essential, or P, or any other that lays out a thought out plan complete with how to's, and what if's, and then come with their own "idea" that's about as sloppy as a porn star working overtime for 4 days straight, then yeah, I'm going to mock that approach.

You don't do that, so I don't mock the way you fan your team. I respect it.

Even tho you are so completely off base with how you view Jason Kidd and Kobe Bryant being equals.

That'll be enough porn slander.

Thanks.

Not necessarily equals. Just saying, give my dude JKidd prime Shaq and PJax surrounded by Horry and Gasol and Artest and Odom and Fox. When dude FINALLY had a good combination of 'solid coach' (Carlisle) + SOLID star (Dirk) + SOLID role players (JET, Marion, Barea): championship. First try. No, no... those 2 Jersey Finals were in NO WAY 'solid coach + solid star + solid role players'. Hell, HE was more the coach, AND the star. And role players? Vince could dunk and score, Jefferson could jump, and... who else was on the team? Dr J?

Just think that there are a small handful of players over the last 16-17-18 years that, if given Kobe's luxuries, would have MUCH different resumes. 'S all.
