Los Angeles, CA – June 17, 2010 -- The NCAA Committee on Infractions has agreed to allow the USC football team to compete in the football game scheduled for Thursday, September 2 against the University of Hawaii. The committee granted the measure as a one-year exception to the "12 games only" imposition of penalties announced recently in response to rules violations.

The committee agreed to postpone a ban on a 13th game until the 2011 USC football season.

Rumor going around that Tennessee contacted some USC players and they are going to visit this weekend. Supposedly Monte called LT furious about it.
I'm sure kids have been contacted, not sure about the visit part of the rumor.

I wouldn't be surprised.  TJ Bryant is not a fan of Kiffin.  Heard he was pissed when he stripped him and Devon Flournoy of #1, saying they have to earn it if they want it.

I wouldn't be suprised if TJ leaves.

When sanctions hit, he was one of the handful of names that was tossed out as possible transfers, here are the other common names for various reasons (doghouse, depth chart, etc.):

Mustain- committed to staying
Jordan Campbell - Process of transferring, possible destination - Boise State
CJ Gable - committed to staying
Markeith Ambles - committed to staying
George Uko - back on board
TJ Bryant - ?
Seantrel - ?
Jarvis Jones - Didn't leave due to sanctions, USC doctors wouldn't clear him so he got a medical release.
Travon Patterson - ?

I would believe the rumor if it said a USC player is visiting, instead of some USC players.  We'll see though.

Dre, wasn't able to get on the boards yesterday but just saw you guys got Rashad Greene. Nice pick-up. Saw him in person, kid is solid.

Gunna, what ya projecting for UT? I wanna hear what your honest assessment is as I was talking to my buddy, and I'm pretty sure he still sniffs glue.

Heres Adam Rittenberg's suggested divisions for the Big Ten.  Seem to be pretty even to me.
Delany Division
Penn State
Nebraska
Iowa
Northwestern
Indiana
Purdue
Delaney Division
Ohio State
Michigan State
Michigan
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Illinois

6-6
If the O-Line can protect about as much as last yr, we should decent and possibly stay in games.   Our Defense will be SEC Good. it could be Very good to great if  DT John Brown makes it into school in August.   offense, ehhhh not so much.  we have to depend on  Matt Simms/Tyler Bray, Juwann James, Matt Milton, Ted Meline, michael Palardy (k) , Da'Rick Rodgers and late Juco signee  Gooch ( Center) to come in and have an impact on the game. thats ALOT to ask from True Freshmen/1st yr players

you just cant go far having to depend on that many Freshmen, and IM not even counting the defensive 1st yr players who will be in the depth chart because they dont necessarily have to show up big like the offensive guys.

if a few of the Freshman can come out  balling, I'll give us an extra W, if they piss the bed, I'll give us an extra loss. so anywhere between 5-7 and 7-6 is my reality right now but I wouldnt be happy with 7-6, anything more would a miracle.

I think Juwann James, Da'rick Rodgers, Matt Milton and Tyler Bray can all be All league performers a few years down the road tho, they are that talented.

Clay Burton (Brother of Trey Burton from UF) is Irish.
I was told he initiated a call to coach Gran the other day and it went very very well.
In regards to Marlin Lane. Still expect him to be a Tiger at the end of the day, but here's to at least making Dabo sweat.

Really good assessment there.  Thanks.  He was trying to convince me for 9 wins, and I told him 6-7.  Da'rick is going to be a huge problem for this league.

Great minds agree: Oklahoma could have been SEC-bound
You might not believe this, but that's Joe Simpson holding the reins. Yes, I'm lying.

Joe Simpson and I were talking last night at the ol’ ballpark, and we’re of like minds on one salient notion: We both believe Oklahoma could well have landed in the SEC. (What, you expected us to discuss baseball?)

Joe, as you doubtless know, is both an Oklahoma native and an OU alum. And he was saying the e-mails were already flying toward Norman — some of them written by him — asking the burning question: “Why should we follow Texas to the Pac-10?

From what I hear it's not real. We haven't even contacted him. You know how Randy is...if a kid didn't pick us the 1st time he aint gonna take him the 2nd time. And he's going to prep school.

Yes.

I don't get it though.

Go to prep-school for a year (

) and then sign on with Miami.  That's the rumor.

Why not just redshirt, then your RS Freshman year is the last year of sanctions?  I swear, some of these kids have no guidance.

Anyword on Baxter moving or...?
He's a Trojan.

I don't see Saban letting him getting away...

O’Leary could follow Shockey’s footsteps to the ‘U’ as he’s considering the school in Coral Gables, which recently picked up a verbal commitment from quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

“I was talking to him about (his commitment),

I'm hearing Seantrel might have to go the prep route...anyone else hear that?

Edit: Nevermind...just read Ibis' response a few posts up.

O'Leary right now... Crimi'Nole.

There were rumblings in May that Nevada Dontay Moch had the makings of being a freakish athlete.

Scouts in attendance at Nevada's junior pro day in May called Nevada one of the fastest teams they've been around. But it was Moch, the 6-foot-1, 245-pound disruptor at defensive end, who generated the most buzz.

The rumor making the rounds on Wolf Pack-centric websites is that Moch busted 4.3 seconds in the 40-yard dash. 4.27 seconds one said. 4.28 said another. Improbable.

Hold up. Make that probable.

Sources tell Rob Rang of NFLDraftScout that Moch ran 4.25 40. When he was asked to run another, Moch ran a 4.19.

Update: Moch just got back to me confirming those crazy times. So they go from being Internet conjecture to fact.
