You've got some CFB teams like Northwestern saying they'll lock arms in "solidarity" and "unity".
They're really white washing this whole thing and forgetting the main reason of protesting.

Le Batard and Mina Kimes made a great point on their show today. It's easy for us to project our sensibilities onto these players and judge from afar, we don't have millions of dollars riding on this. Put yourself in their shoes before telling them how they should protest.

Understood, but when you have mouths to feed and your job is on the line, locking arms or kneeling before the anthem might be your only options. Who are we to call them "Uncle Toms" or say they're "selling out" for doing so?

definitely.. but early in the season i could see how folks had their doubts, cause the early episodes were kinda lackluster.. but i like how they're building and developing the universe and the characters
you could easily see how they're are more legit ramifications for their actions (i mean dudes went at the damn devil previously in an episode with zero real ramifications).. and how things can start to come back home to roost

well with half the team kneeling, it at least generated discussion (although some of it felt like just banging your head on the wall) and buzz. but now if everyone just stands, it's basically business as usual. which may be fine as far as this avenue of protesting goes. but they players have to find another way to keep using their platform. a way in which people can't just ignore it and brush it off, which is what made the anthem protests great.

for the most part i think the average white american was content with ignoring it.. same applies to the owners..
because to be honest, i'm not sure how much traction it really was getting and i think the owners blackballing kaep made things worse and the discussion continued because all we needed was horrible QB play plus couple injuries forcing teams to bring in randoms for it to become blatantly obvious what was happening
this is a league that has thrived with the rip off the bandaid approach.. as long as something was dealt it, it went away quick (see vick).. but when things lingered that's when they get into problems (see brady and now with zeke)
and trump just saw an opportunity to point the finger at rich black men and distract a bunch of ignorant people from what's really going on
so the owners were forced to react and i'm sure they paid some consultancy firm (along with lawyers, advertising and PR folks) a pretty penny to come up with what their message should be.. which is why you see all the teams on a certain message and avoiding addressing specific things and words (unity, great guys, work/impact in community.. never directly addressing trump or what the purpose of the protest actual was)

Ryan Moats' wife had a good segment, explaining that for people like her and Ryan that tried to take the "higher road" and went to attempt change without protest, attempting to work with local law enforcement and they couldnt get anywhere with it

cause the NFL misses ALOT of obvious ideas.. i mean look how quickly pretty much on a weekly basis we come up with crap in here that we legit gotta wonder if the league has even considered
