It is the ultimate B movie and it showed that a very well done B movie can be infinitely more than a poorly made summer block buster or a heavy handed drama that takes itself seriously, panders for an Oscar but is not well made at all.

Machete was just plain fun and in an era where summer superhero movies can take themselves too seriously, studios think that 100 million dollar 3D special effects will compensate for a formulaic plot and some producer though a movie about a women eating pasta would be entertaining, there are few movies that are fun to watch.

Even when drama is done well, like the Social Network or a horror movie really makes your skin crawl, like Human Centipede, it is nice not always think of a movie as some intellectual undertaking and it is nice to accept the premise that we will get a barrage of video game like violence, quasi pornographic levels of nudity and a celebration of silliness that never claimed to take itself seriously. Machete delivers all of that, all with very cool authenticity in showing both Paisas (For those who do not know, they are people who grew up in a Latin American counrty and currently live and work in the US and in case of Mexican Pasias, they tend to be from rural areas and wear what we would describe as cowboy style clothing, along with gold chains and a mustache) and that very Pasia institution, the Taco Truck. If you live in the South West, even amid this surrealist and absurb flick, you get some anchor points of day to day things from our lives.

In short, see Machete if you are a guy or if yo uare gilr who liked Pulp Fiction and/or other films like that.

Movie was dope. The over-the-top action was done perfectly.
