NO @ TB : After a virtual must-win game in which they triumphed over the NFCS leading Panthers, 21-16, the Saints travel to Tampa just one game back of the NFCS lead!!! The Bucs, who are just 1 game back of New Orleans, await them for a showdown with divisional && wildcard race implications!!!
GB @ CHI : The Packers have quietly won 6 in a row, && are now squarely in the race for HFA in the NFC!!! The NFCN leaders travel to the Windy City, where the Bears knocked off the Champion Chiefs just two weeks ago, && can tie for 1st in the North win a W against Lacy && Co.!!!
BAL @ PIT : The AFCN lead is also at stake this week, as the surging Ravens collide once more with the slumping Steelers!!! Two of the year's prime ROTY candidates will be key factors for each team's chances, as Jacobie Fisher && Shamell Patton look to power their offenses to victory in what should be a hard hitting duel!!!

THE PLAYOFF RACES ARE BEGINNING TO HEAT UP AS WE RETURN FOR YET ANOTHER EDITION OF...
THE GAUNTLET!!!
Welcome back!!! We're already underway with Week 10, so let's set the table && recap what occurred in Week 9 around the league...
We start in San Francisco, where a new AFC challenger has appeared: the Baltimore Ravens!!!
HIGHLIGHTS BELOW!!!
In a game which saw paltry QB play on both sides, the Ravens rode ROTY candidate, RB Shamell Patton, to the tune of 175 yards && 3 TDs as they improved to 5-3 with a 27-10 victory over the struggling 49ers!!! With the victory, Baltimore has moved into a tie with the Steelers for the AFCN lead, as they head into their Week 10 battle in the 412 with the division lead up for grabs!!!
Out west, facing a possible 3-game losing streak && loss of sole possession of first in the AFCW, the World Champions rose to the occasion in hostile territory!!! With their backs against the wall, the Chiefs outlasted the upstart Oakland Raiders, 35-21, thanks in large part to a critical fumble recovery, followed by a breakaway TD run by Jamaal Charles!!! KC owns a 2 game lead (plus season sweep tiebreaker) over Oakland in the AFCW, but both would make the playoffs if they started today...
If you missed the offense vs. defense showdown, then you indeed missed some fantastic play by LOB: Lots of Browns!!! Cleveland stifled Russell Wilson all evening long to the tune of 5 INTs, && Johnny Manziel scored 4 total TDs, including one to Josh Gordon, as the Shmoney Gang routed the Seahawks, 34-17!!! They now sit just two games back of the AFCN lead, while Seattle opened the door for another NFC contender to seize control of the conference race...
But the Panthers couldn't take advantage of the opportunity, as their 6-game winning streak was halted in New Orleans!!! Carolina fell behind 14-0 in the first quarter, && couldn't quite get out of their own way all night as the Saints held on late for a 21-16 victory on SNF!!! The Saints, after coming thru in a nearly must-win situation to keep their division hopes alive, now only sit a game behind the Panthers for first in the NFCS, with lots of football left to play!!
And the AFCS could possibly send a .500 team to the playoffs this year!! The Texans narrowly lost in Miami to the Dolphins, 17-14...while the Jags && Colts gained ground with wins last week!!!
Jacksonville shook off an early Andy Dalton pick six, && added their own defensive TD late to knock off the middling, mercurial Buccaneers 34-24 && improve to 3-5!! The Jaguars now find themselves a game out of first place...
A position that the Indianapolis Colts are now tied for after a 41-27 victory over the hapless Titans, who are now on #ZeroWatch as they dropped to 0-8 on the season!!! Indy is suddenly at 4-4 && appears ready to potentially relieve HOU of what would be the 4th seed in the AFC playoffs!!!
OTHER GAMES:
The New York Giants now lead the NFCE!!! DeMarco Murray's new squad triumphed over his old one, 21-17, thanks to a late Odell Beckham Jr TD grab, followed by a late interception of Cowboys backup QB Brandon Weeden!!! Tony Romo's return appears both imminent && necessary at this point, as the high scoring Dallas offense hasn't been able to overcompensate for shaky performances in other phases of the game, leaving them at 5-4 for now!!!
Good news: The Rams continued their Mixtape Tour with a 31-10 drubbing of the struggling Bengals in Cincy!!!
Bad news: The Rams have discontinued all known efforts of their blatant Cam Newton cloning project for the forseeable future, as QB Terrelle Pryor suffered a partial groin tear during the action!!! But now, Joe Flacco takes the helm in what should be an interesting interlude as St. Louis gets ready for the GOTW for the NFCW lead next week at Seattle!!!
