True that there is some cultural identity woven into an accent.
Maybe Cali's lack of a cultural identity makes you identify with an accent from somewhere with a solid identity?

It’s not that deep . Having a different accent in California = more unique and women here find that more charming/attractive.

As for Nakamura and Asuka, I think they are doing what Vince and/or H tells them to do. If that’s to learn to enunciate better then so be it, but if they have no problem with the way they talk then what’s the pressure to do it on their own when they already have a bunch of different obligations (like @Case said) and they are here for just a couple years? The American audience shouldn’t feel any type of way, that is business.
