Figured Marvel would do this. I'm sure I suggested it as a possibility early on.

At least Marvel is smart enough to try and cushion the blow with Shang Chi.
They are still going to be fighting an uphill battle, the character at its core just has too many racist elements. imo
If someone tried to make an Iron Fist movie today, and it wasn't based on some original character people would be clowning it like they did gods of egypt.

By the time the show comes out we may just discover the city of K'un Lun loses all of it's Asian elements and become way more mystical warriors than anything. Just to soften that blow. End up more like some Mortal Kombat location.
I notice Dr. Strange doesn't get any of that flack and he's going to be journeying to Tibet to learn magic from an androgynous white woman and he'll still have his Asian partner/man-servant that knows some magic and how to fight real good among other things.
