Mass Shooting Thread: Waiting on the next one.

California aslo has top 2 strictest gun law in America.

:rolleyes

When people bring up Cali and Illinois gun laws in situations like these, why do they conveniently ignore the fact that the states adjacent to Cali/Illinois have some of the most lax gun laws in the country? What is stopping people from making a quick drive to purchase them and return home to use/sell them?

I knew plenty of dudes back in the day that would drive from LA to somewhere in NV (2-4 hours drive) to cop/shoot guns

Meanwhile in the same country

All I see is scared people.

The interview below happened the day before the shooting:

And this bit foreshadowed the event we are discussing right now:

KELLY: May I ask you the basic momentum question - because as horrific as what happened at your high school is, do you worry that as it recedes farther into the past, into history, that it will be hard to keep people mobilizing around this issue in the way that they have in these last eight, nine months?

DEITSCH: The sad part about America is that we are not short on shootings, as you can tell in just the previous few weeks before this election. There were shootings in Pittsburgh. There was a shooting in North Carolina. There was a shooting in Florida. There was a shooting in Utah. There were many other shootings that I cannot name off the top of my head. But these happen all the time. These events continue to happen. And the American people and especially the young people being gunned down in classrooms are just sick and tired of it. And we want to see real leadership in this country. We want to see the general welfare upkept. And right now, it is not being so.

So were the 6 LEOs armed inside the bar? All reports I'm seeing say that they were off-duty.
I said in this very thread that it doesn't matter if you got a rocket launcher in your pocket when that gun is pointed at your head, ready to shoot.

Cats stay delusional, thinking that emptying out the local gun shop will protect them from getting caught by surprise.

I see people looking or a reason to shoot someone. Any reason will do. I see a lot of killings done in the name of “safety”.

Because its illegal to cross state lines and buy handguns (which the killer used)
You can only buy shotguns and rifles across state lines.
The guy had one of the few handguns youre allowed to buy and own in cali. He was also a vet so it may be safe to assume this is a Gun(s) hes owned for a long time.

What people fail to realize is that the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, effectively created killing machines that returned home and can go on a rampage at any moment. You can't expect people to go to war, witness death around them constantly and come home and act like they are mentally fine and can quickly adjust back to civilian life.

Just cuz you’re off duty doesnt mean an establishment is going to let you in with a firearm, especially when alcohol is going to be involved.

Idk about other places in the country but I remember various bars out here checking you at the door for weapons

I guess the fact that this shooting took place despite California having strict gun laws proves that strict gun laws are a complete fail in a country where you can buy a gun in a state without strict gun laws, then drive to a state with strict gun laws and use said gun.

Def can NOT take a gun in to a bar legally...there are only like a handful of states that even allow you to take a gub in to a restaurant that serves alcohol but even then youre not allowed to drink...

Read my post 7 post up. Ypu in fact can not do that with a handgun.
You have to be a Nevada resident

Is there an actual way to prevent these nowadays? Even a straight up house to house gun seizure, which would never fly in the first place, wouldn't take all the guns away and I can't imagine americans willingly giving them up either.

And that’s why when I retire from the military, I will keep my *** right here in Germany.

Love being an American... but I’m never going back!
Don't forget to continue filing them tax returns though. Otherwise, the IRS will get you the moment you walk in the US consulate.

I think it's definitely possible to mitigate, but gun control is only symptom control and doesn't address the root causes of gun violence in America. The vast majority of gun violence (low income/inner city handgun violence) needs increased opportunity, education, and social services to fix the problem. Mass shootings like these highlight the need for increased emphasis on mental health and more proactive parenting regardless of whether or not the family is "intact."

Na. What ppl fail to realize is that we need to start looking at and talking about white American culture as being the root to these mass shootings, unwarranted and unjust killing of unarmed civilians by cops, these gun shows in general, the loopholes, how guns get into the hood in an effort to get impoverished ppl to use them to eradicate each other, etc.
