Mass Shooting Thread: Waiting on the next one.

When your mind is trained for war and your media is always pointing out enemies, what's the natural course of action?

THOUSAND OAKS, CA—In the hours following a violent rampage in California in which a lone attacker killed 12 individuals, including a police officer, and seriously injured at least 12 others, citizens living in the only country where this kind of mass killing routinely occurs reportedly concluded Thursday that there was no way to prevent the massacre from taking place. “This was a terrible tragedy, but sometimes these things just happen and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them,” said Kansas resident Carrie Grant, echoing sentiments expressed by tens of millions of individuals who reside in a nation where over half of the world’s deadliest mass shootings have occurred in the past 50 years and whose citizens are 20 times more likely to die of gun violence than those of other developed nations. “It’s a shame, but what can we do? There really wasn’t anything that was going to keep this individual from snapping and killing a lot of people if that’s what they really wanted.” At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past eight years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”

One of my wife's coworkers who lives out in Thousand Oaks and is into Country music is no call no show today at work. They tried calling him and they cant get a hold of him... :smh: :frown: ish is so sad man.

Give the administration a break. We got a group of non whites right now coming in caravans to rape our women and children. Winter is coming....

The big bad caravan with the Middle Eastern terrorists, MS 13 members, and the most dangerous rock throwers this side of the Rio Grande. :emoji_cold_sweat:

The 'general' public will grasp at anything to make it seem like mass shootings are linked to radical Islamic descent or training.

I'm not trying to derail this thread but we have our standing President complaining about athletes not respecting the flag and the military but, at least to my knowledge zero mentions of the of the epidemic that is affecting so many of those men and women who have served our country. More needs to be done to support troops coming home from active duty.

Exactly. They’re always pushing this respect the military thing, yet I can see struggling vets homeless any day. “Respect the flag”, fabric you can get for $10 yet you can’t make sure these veterans come home, re-adjust and live stable lives. Man please

Celebrity neice might have be in the cross hairs of the shooter....this mass shooting thing just not looking for an

It’s actually simpler than that. The general public will look at the first thing they see and never look back to read the actual story. “Looked Muslim” is what they first saw and will be the only thing they remember/see

Forget comparing the US to similar countries: I've stayed in "developing" countries that Americans look down on, and while there are are issues there that don't exist here, at least I never felt in danger of being shot and murdered for no reason. The worst that could ever happen in those places is getting pickpocketed or getting your bag stolen. Over here though???

The only reason I'm still here is because my dad needs ongoing treatment/monitoring and he only trusts the doctor he's been with for the past 2 years. Seriously do not feel safe in this country

I am 15 miles from the shooting in Thousand Oaks. Its so close to home its terrifying.

RIP to all those who lost their lives (except the gunman)

Now that the shooter has been ID'd, I am waiting for the news that the shooter was mentally ill.

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.—Ian David Long, the suspected gunman in a mass shooting here, rose to the rank of corporal during his time in the Marines and his specialty was machine-gunner, according to military records.

Law-enforcement officials identified Mr. Long on Thursday as the suspect in the killing of 12 people at a country music bar late Wednesday. Mr. Long also died at the scene, after apparently shooting himself, according to Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean.

Apparently there were people in that Thousand Oaks bar that were survivors of the Las Vegas shooting massacre.

Just incredible.

Is there truth to that? So wild if so.

Some people who survived the Borderline Bar & Grill shooting that left 13 dead, including the gunman, also escaped the mass shooting at the Route 91 music festival in Las Vegas last year, according to the Los Angeles Times and New York Times.

"A lot of people in the Route 91 situation go here," Chandler Gunn, 23, told the LA Times. "There’s people that live a whole lifetime without seeing this, and then there’s people that have seen it twice."
