Griz eye Heat's Dorell Wright

Griz coach Lionel Hollins experimented with his lineups for a second straight game, allowing at least four reserves to play together at once Saturday night against the San Antonio Spurs.

Hollins, who used a five-man substitution Friday night, said he's trying to develop an otherwise offensively challenged bench.

"I've been working with them to see if we can have a five-man group go into the game," Hollins said. "It's something I want to look at."

Meanwhile, the Griz haven't abandoned their quest to potentially add another player through free agency or trade. Memphis is one of several teams showing interest in Miami Heat swingman Dorell Wright.

The Heat appears to be faced with the choice of dumping Wright or paying the NBA's luxury tax.

Wright, a 6-9 forward, is earning $2.9 million this season. A versatile and energetic player, Wright is seen as expendable only because the Heat is unlikely to be in a position to re-sign him this summer.

Miami stands roughly $2.8 million over the tax threshold, after reducing its payroll by about $500,000 with last week's trade of guard Chris Quinn to the New Jersey Nets.

Should the Heat get below the tax threshold, with the Feb. 18 NBA trading deadline essentially the cutoff for doing so, it would be eligible to share in a tax redistribution given each non-taxed team.

It's no secret that the Griz have been shopping one or more of their three 2010 first-round draft picks.

In his fifth year, Wright is a preps-to-pros prospect the Heat selected in the first round (19th overall) of the 2004 NBA draft. He would fit the Grizzlies' expressed desire to add length, shooting and defense on the perimeter.

Wright is averaging 47-percent shooting (37 from 3-point range), 5.3 points and three rebounds in 31 appearances this season.

i would love to see dorell wright on the grizzlies but isn't he d.wades best friend? would d.wade allow the heat to get rid of him? its not like he'ssome kind of scrub, he actually produces when he's given time plus he's athletic and can defend multiple positions.

Yeah Dorell is Wade's best friend. I think Dorell named his kid after Wade too.

I would welcome him on the team. He's got a decent jump shot and can defend. He's had bad luck with injuries and was on a short leash in Miami.

The Grizz will become the 8th seed tonight if they win and Utah+OKC loses. I can't wait to see the Grizz/Thunder game on Friday though.
