modern men haircuts..

hey, I'm growing out my hair

it's lower than my ears.

my is very coarse and has split ends because I'm clueless... first time growing my hair.
I'm going to check out a female hair stylist, any other tips?
I trim my beard and sideburns, should I also be trimming the hair right in front of the ear? seems awkward.

^
You mean the longer hair that connects to your sideburns? I had problems with that area in the beginning too. I just picked a spot where I wanted the top of the sideburns to end, used my beard trimmer and scissors to clean up that area. Took a while for the hair to grow long enough to tuck behind my ear.

Hair loss is a trait from your mother's side of genetics
You couldn't be more wrong. I don't understand why people still repeat this old wives tale.

Info has been posted before that questions that. I just read an article that says you can inherit it from either parent. Seems like doctors still aren't 100% sure.
Doctors are 100% sure, it can and does come from either side.

I think these type of haircuts, deflects having a receding hairline. Word to David Beckham

I don't even think Beckham is receding. That just looks like his natural hairline he's had for a long time.

I didn't think his hairline was receding before, but it does look like the sides near the temples are pushing back. He's rocked a skin fade on the sides a few times, that would work if they start receding real bad.

Yeah, you're right. I just looked at a pic when he had that weird samurai hairstyle and also braids and he had that empty gap at the temples back then.

Him and Ewan McGregor are still my hairstyle heroes.

Officially rocking the undercut man bun/top knot. Need to get one side cleaned up since it is a bit lower than the other. But after growing my hair forever I can finally do it!

how do yall deal with cowlicks?

Mine is on left/front side and is such a PITA that I have my barber just fade it, kinda like how Moneylicious has his above. It sucks because I can never get that straight slick back look and am stuck to basically, a comb-over.

Yeah, I used that got2b hair glue for years too. The hold is great but I stopped using it because of the heaviness and I finally found pomade that I liked.

I'm lucky that my cowlick is on the back left side of my scalp. After a while my barber learned to leave that area a little longer so it can be brushed down and nor stick up.

Been growing my hair for the last 5-6 months, kinda have a cut similar to @Pinoy732 . Not as long but w/ a bald taper.

Thinking of switching it up to a combover, idk. Its been a minute since I've had hair this long

Don't get me wrong. I know my cut is unoriginal.

But there's just too many dudes with the combover now. I logged at least 3-4 years with it, I'm glad that I've switched to this :lol

I hear yah.

As someone who hasn't grown his hair out in forever, i'm basically experimenting and considering all styles.
