i've been doing the side part for over 6 years now. still going strong. people getting different cuts because the side part/ comb over is too common now?

side part is a classic, traditional cut that will NEVER go out of style. Unlike the faux hawk, the skrillex side shave, etc etc....it's never been a "trend," my dad rocked a side part, his dad rocked a side part, and his dad rocked a side part. it's never going to look out dated.

Change is good too. Having the same haircut for so long gets boring.

Finally got a haircut after 9-10 months. Measured my hair to be around 9 inches. Told the barber to cut half off the top. Will be rocking a slick back or pompadour style for now.

Try Bumble & Bumble Sumotech. Works good for me and I have really thick hair.

Where in Dallas do you get your haircut? Just moved back home to Dallas and have been looking for a good place. 

Trying to change up my regular cut - #1 on the sides faded up, longer on top. Trying to grow out the sides a bit and go for a messy natural look because I feel like everyone has the undercut/clean cut/madmen feel going on now. Here's my progress so far:

IMO i think we cut it a little too high. Knew the chance i was taking though, was tough to get perfect and couldnt trust another person to try. Couple of the guys at the shop held one side up n clipped it in but still hard

Wondering what ideas u guys have as we go forward

ADH dry goes a long way though, you don't have to use that much. With that being said, the hold isn't as strong as a layrite, uppercut, etc. but you also have to know how to use it correctly. I find applying it while wet then blowdrying it gives a stronger hold, while applying it to already dry hair leaves it a little more plyable and loose. what's the difference between a taper and a fade?

i usually just do a 2 on the sides but wouldnt mind going a bit shorter on the lower sides but dont want to go down to like a zero or anything.

should i just say 2 down to a 1?

@Quell - I would definitely recommend still using some product even though you've got it pulled up. I think that's going to solve the problem with it getting loose. I feel like American Crew pomade could work well for your situation. Dope cut.

from other stuff i've read it says that taper and fade are sometimes interchangeable, but it looks like a fade is just a shorter taper?

I did for a while but it felt good to cut my hair short again. The long hair kept clogging my shower drain and I always had to put product in my hair before leaving the house or it would look like a mess.
