League gave everyone a day off for the NCAA title game tonight....They know it would be crazy from a marketing perspective to go against such a major event. Kinda like how they ensure their games flank the Super Bowl but none actually play to compete with the time the Super Bowl plays...

But a break in the schedule/day offs do happen every now and then...but this is one of the night's along with SuperBowl Sunday (where games are played in the afternoon) where no action goes on...

Kobe fans.....defend this please!

Well, you don’t see this every day. Thank God.

During All-Star Weekend Kobe did an interview with Chinese media (in the media interview/work room) pushing Sprite and some other products, and I don’t remember much because I was doing my very, very best to tune out the annoying interviews (eventually going to the Miles Davis Pandora channel and headphones). But I remember a few questions about Jay Chou and thinking “I don’t know who that is but Kobe could look pretty silly in a cheesy Chinese video.

With another injury taking its aim and the twilight of Shaq's career now closer on the horizon, this article from SlamOnline is just the nice piece to take you on that "walk down memory lane"...

He came into the League as a rapping, acting, Reebok-wearing, Pepsi-drinking, breakdancing 20-year-old who was pretty good at basketball, too. In many ways, Shaquille O’Neal paved the way for business-minded players like LeBron James. Michael Jordan may have been the first person to endorse everything but condoms (you’re welcome for that link—check pg. 50), but it took him a championship or two to get to that point. Shaq broke into the L with Wilt-like potential and instantly had a $70-million deal with Reebok. He was also letting the poor sap(s) who wrote the script for Kazaam earn a living. Shaq’s tenure with Reebok was a short one, but he’s always had attention-grabbing sneaks on his feet, regardless of the brand.

Just a few pics to whet the appetite...

Today in Miami, Jordan Brand officially unveiled their first signature sneaker for Miami Heat’s Dwayne Wade: the Jordan Fly Wade, designed by Mark Smith, Jordan Creative Director, and Tom Luedecke, Jordan Senior Footwear Designer. Weighing in at only 13 ounces, the Jordan Fly Wade is the lightest Jordan Brand basketball sneaker to date. While light weight, the sneaker does not sacrifice on the technology which includes a full-length Phylon midsole, a asymmetrical collar for optimal performance on the court, Nike Zoom unit in the forefoot, Max Air unit in the heel and an internal 3/4 bootie rounding out some of the note worthy specs. With the playoffs fast approaching, the new Jordan Fly Wade is Jordan Brand’s answer to Dwayne Wade’s post season drive to the finals so keep an eye out on Mr. Wade’s performance and feet over the next few weeks. Dwayne Wade is the third hand-chosen (by Michael Jordan) Team Jordan Athlete to receive a signature sneaker under Jordan Brand, the other two, Chris Paul and Derek Jeter. The first two colorways of the Jordan Fly Wade will be available in the U.S. on Thursday, May 5, 2011 and in China on Saturday, May 7, 2011 for a suggested retail price of $140.  In addition, the Jordan Fly Wade will be available for NikeiD customization on Sunday, May 29, 2011. wow thanks for the great great pics bundy and you big dummy. those fly wades look way off on what they tried to achieve. it doesn't look sleek or good casually. they're doing wade wrong!

and i didn't know the pro combat tops had padding for the sternum! makes sense. wonder why they don't add that for the general release versions.
