Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki was unstoppable at the start of Game 1 of the 2011 Western Conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Nowitzki made 10 of his first 11 shots en route to a 48-point night. Nowitzki also made an NBA playoff-record 24 straight free throws. The Mavs had nine days off before the start of the Thunder series. Nowitzki said he got in some extra shooting practice during the layoff between rounds
.

Greatest performance I've seen in person in my life.

i could shoot 74% too if most of my shots are dunks and layups

Russell Westbrook made 20 FGs. Kobe has never done that in the playoffs. Jordan has done that in the playoffs ONCE.

Just sayin'. Shrug.

LeBron James scored 29 of the Cavaliers' final 30 points against the Pistons at The Palace of Auburn Hills to lift his team to within a game of the NBA Finals. In this double-overtime thriller, James attacked the rim time and time again, throwing down numerous thunderous dunks. James finished with 48 points on 18-of-33 shooting from the field. He also had nine rebounds, seven assists and two steals. "

Jordan's wrath was really unstoppable. The real G.O.A.T and the other one is a JOKE comparing himself to him.

I don't think that's what this thread is about.

I feel bad for him.

Looking at those stats, I think it's safe to say Shaq was the greatest playoff performer in the last 15 years

. How didn't they put when Hakeem Olajuwon destroyed league MVP David Robinson in the '95 Western Conference Finals.

LeBron's game 6 against the Celtics is the best playoff performance I've witnessed.

In the end, that performance was too good for its own good and why it didn't get a higher place on that list. He was so good and couldn't miss a shot that he singlehandedly not only beat the Celtics, but singlehandedly blew them away... Which is why it is too good for its own good. If it had come in a closer game, no doubt it would've ranked higher and certainly no one would think the Pistons game was better. No doubt that Magic's finals performance is #1. SURELY there was a game in that Hakeem-David Robinson series that deserves a spot on the list. And what about the Bernard King overtime performance against the Pistons. Not even a honorable mention? If you know about this game, you know that it at least deserves a honorable mention.

Man, Jordan faked it during the flu game. Look at him acting like he needs help walking off the court:

But he was running just fine all throughout the game:

Agreed. His 39 and 17 in the clinching game is disgusting.

ESPN really mailed it in with this list. Stop slurping Jordan and Lebron, stop living in The Now, and recognize some of these performances.

MJ's last game as a Chicago Bull only number 6?
It should be number 2 or even 1, because MJ
was 35 years old and Scottie Pippen injured himself in
the 1st quarter.
But indeed Magic's game in the 1980 Finals was super amazing.
I mean he was a rookie and played like a veteran superstar.

-_- @ faking it, dude looked like a hot mess in between baskets, had the towel over his head anytime he was NOT running. Did you watch it live?

Don't get how Lebron gets 3 spots (should have 1 to 2) either when the fact is Larry Bird, Hakeem, had some more memorable performances. Tim Duncan's near quadruple double in a clinching Finals game vs the Nets should be there as well.

Jordan's 50+ point performances were ridiculous, and 63 just topped it off

I'm 20, and this is the best single game playoff performance I've seen in my lifetime
If you are only just 7-10 years older, you'll see more exciting games and abysmal performance in the NBA.

These are the 25 greatest games just based on the statistical difficulty, no taking into account stakes or anything else. (since 1984)

Vince Carter had some memorable games in Toronto. I'm sure he had one game that deserves honorable mention. AI was def snubbed by not being on this list.
They should have created a Top 50 List instead.

I think context is key. For a non-clinching game, any Finals game is going to carry a lot more weight than anything else. If it's a series-clinching game in the conference finals or Finals, then that trumps pretty much everything. Can you honestly sit there and say Rondo's Game 2 in the ECF was better than Larry Bird's triple double in Game 6 of the '86 Finals. If Lebron put up that Larry Bird game tonight (29/11/12) and the Heat won, ESPN would call it the greatest performance in the history of basketball.
