NBC's Community Thread - 6/2 - Ep. 13: "Emotional Consequences of Broadcast Television"

This and The Office will never get old
Currently doing a re-watch of Community. Man, I'm catching stuff that I didn't catch the first time lol.

The episode where Abed makes short film of the study group and Pierce is shocked when he finds out the old white guy is Pierce lol.

Pierce dressed as Beast Master but never watched the movie lol

Damn that finale was brilliant, should've watched it sooner. #andamovie. If I had money, once we were back to normal this would totally be one of those extravagant purchases where I toss them 50 mill and say go nuts.

What really caught me off guard is Brit Marling was even on the show. Way more celeb guest appearances or actors would end up being big on this show.

Late to this show but holy **** is it funny. Almost done with S1 and can’t believe I never gave it a chance before Netflix released it.

White Abed lolol

Annie ready to risk it all when Abed was doing his Don Draper.

Just spent the last 2 weeks watching this show for the first time. My thoughts having just finished season 6.

Ranking the seasons
season 2
Season 1
Season 3 (not as good as the first 2 but had my 2 favorite episodes of the entire series: Chaos Theory and Doc filmmaking: Redux)
season 5
season 6 (was hardly the same show with half of the original main cast gone)
season 4

Favorite characters:
Pelton
Pierce
Abed

Dislikes:
britta slowly turned into the dumbest one on the show. Cartoonishly dumb
Every episode ending with some sort of life lesson, narrated by McHale. I’m sure this is meant to be a joke, like a closing argument from McHale’s lawyering past, but the aftershcool special vibe annoyed me.

Overall an awesome show that probably should have probably ended sooner like many other shows.

I too noticed Britta's character becoming more 'dumb' as season one goes one.

Also Dean Pelton's expressing his sexuality more as the season goes on.

Rewatching.. I think I loved this show too much that I had to take a break for a little bit. Every episode I anxiously awaited and digested and reviewed and obsessed over. It's so damn good man

Britta caught that Troy and became basically as dumb but none of the rare moments of insight.

Basically writers were kinda done with her being a halfass hippie rage against the machine contrarian so when she made her major psychology it was an excuse for her to pseudo-analyze any character so they could have breakthroughs and get in touch with their feelings.

Jeff even makes a joke later on by s5 I think where he says when I first met you I thought you were the mature and smart one. They laid off by s6 though.

The show belabors this by always getting meta about the inevitable end and the need to oppose change but they basically provided answers for why the show couldn't go on the way characters changed or didn't chang.

After binging myself I really cant say s4 is the worst. I rewatched with none of the info of Harmon being fired and coming back later present in mind and I enjoyed that season up until the finale. I never noticed a dip in quality. To me its more noticeable with s1 getting better as they find their footing and the show trying to stay the same despite Pierce, Troy, and then Shirley leaving.

Chang rose up my fav character list. Also the background characters. They all stayed for the 6 seasons just for the odd side roles and call back jokes. Fat Neil, Leonard, Todd, Garrett (lowkey MIP and MVP of recurring characters), that pottery class doctor, Stacey, etc. Playing ppl that spent 6+ years in community college

Also one thing that bothered me about Paget Brewster is that the very season before she played somebody in charge of the computer dept in the episode where Annie and Hickey basically play the game to bribe the entire faculty just to get a bulletin board fixed. She plays the janitors/custodians being able to see any kind of porn in exchange for something. She plays that character once. Then she comes back as new character Frankie and nothing is mentioned. Not even later in the season where they actually need the character she played and its just excused away that she's a not in. No jokes even attempted.
