I believe Ap State has the JB on the jerseys because Jeff Capel is their coach (UNC grad) and Capel's dad is an assistant with the Bobcats. NC A&T use to be a JB school but they wear Russell jerseys now and still get JB PE's for the team.

I'm a D3 coach and we have Jordan sweatsuits and Jordan Shooting Shirts and all of our other gear is Nike (jerseys, tshirts, etc) but we aren't sponsored by anyone let alone JB, we pay for it out of our budget and fundraising. I've seen some really crappy high school teams with those same jerseys as Georgetown has, just like Morehead State. Here is a link to Bridgewater State's athletics site. They are a D3 team and have those JB jerseys. D3 school don't have contracts with JB or Nike for that matter.

while I'm sure this is true for most cases i think there are exceptions to this. I have a friend who played d3 ball at Marywood and I'm pretty sure he told me he received Nike shoes for free. I'll have to confirm again but he told me Nike provided each player with maybe 2-3 pairs of shoes at most, along with gym bags and other equipment. But their uniforms weren't Nike. He also said that Nike told them if they wanted to wear Jordans they could do so but would have to buy them on their own.

while I'm sure this is true for most cases i think there are exceptions to this.
I know Marywood, I have a cousin that goes to grad school there. My guess is what happened is that the team has that all budgeted within their athletic department. My school, Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, has a Nike rep but we don't do team shoes because too many guys have different preferences. We can get the shoes for about a 40% discount rate compared to retail. Now, it's only for specific team shoes that Nike has. I do know that at the previous college I coached at, we gave the guys shoes and they usually ended up going through two a year because of wear and tear. This was all within the budget, not a contract with Nike. Now, we did have a little deal with Anaconda Sports (THE Rock basketballs are made through them) and we got a major discount on their gear because that school was one of the first to ever use them. We would get free tshirts for bball camp but nothing else was FREE.

With what your buddy said, they would get shoes, bags, etc for the team. Those are called bundle packs and you can get those basically through any distributor including eastbay, Anaconda, and probably through your Nike rep. It doesn't make it a contract and if it was a contract there is no way the team would be wearing another company's jersey.

I know Under Amour is really trying to get into the college game and their rep approached our AD with a deal to secure a deal for the whole athletic department. We would get all things at a discounted rate, etc, etc. We would've also gotten an allotment to for the AD to use at his discretion. With that said, another local college did the same thing and their guys were wearing Nike shoes throughout the season. UA didn't provide shoes. So, maybe it's something like that but I highly doubt it's a contract like it is with the D1 schools.

Funny Marywood comes up. I go there and play ball for them. We did get one free nike shoe of the teams picking and it was the nike shox team ball shoe. Other kicks we had to pay for. It is all budgeted within the athletic department.

It's always amazing to me how many retros you see. Especially with ones that aren't even comfortable like the III and II.

The BHM & OC Kobe's and the Penny I on the Memphis player were the most impressive, not necessarily because they were the best, but they weren't predictable and were different.
