Better than the current gen 6. Audi has more aggressive styling on their entire line of cars while BMWs are toning down theirs for the higher end series. I'm more fond of Audi now.

Honestly they look like they're chasing Aston Martin here... I can't blame them. Aston's current line-up of cars is downright BEAUTIFUL.

Loving this right here. Bmw and audi is killing it in the design dept. But bmw will always have the better driving dynamics. Idk what the hell is wrong with benz lately but their styling has been horrible lately

The new 5 series looks like a bigger 3 series. Theres almost no point in buying one unless its an M5.

The 5-Series isn't just "a bigger 3-Series"... They drive completely different and they look similar because they're both BMW's.... All of the new Generation BMW's are going in the same direction design wise.
Audi is doing the same thing, the A4, A6 and A8 all share the same aesthetics...

No one ever said that it drives like a 3-series. Its obvious the driving mechanics between the 3/5 series are different. And the fact that all BMW series are going in the same directin design wise, well thats not necessarily a good thing. The previous 3/5/6/7 series all looked different from each other, and all were pretty damn good looking (6 series eh, but it did grow on me).
Like I said, BMW is going downhill, atleast in the exterior looks department.

Oh I see, yeah I see your point.
As much as I dont like the new 5 series, the interior is just too nice.
Probably the next sedan I would get/family gets in the next 2-3 years.

When every Audi on the street can barely be differentiated from one another... You can definitely tell a 7 series from any other vehicle BMW makes...
But an A4 to an A6 to an A8, ALL LOOK THE SAME...
Bottom line, BMW's, Porsche's, and Audi's all look the same when you see each model on the street... Mercedes does a better job of making their vehicles look different, but they aren't THAT much better.
I'm a BMW guy myself, but in the end, its a 6 series... What majority of people really like those anyway? Get a 335i or an M3 if the aesthetics of the 6 series doesn't please you as far as 2 door coupes go.
And Optimus, BMW can't chase Aston Martin as far as design goes. I LOVE BMW, but Aston Martin consistently makes beautiful classic designs that are damn near flawless.
But don't take my post wrong people, I love all of the car companies I named

where do you come from? i'll take that bet...let me know how much...do you see the sales numbers rising? for the most part the people who complain are people like you who arent even in the target market - BMW doesnt care if you dont say "thats MY car" when your sitting on your stoop and see the next man roll by in a 2012 6 series
bottom line is EVERY drastic change is met with a certain amount of resistance - but at the end of the day the core market is still copping- the demand is outweighing the supply on the new 5s right now and im sure it will be even more drastic when the 6 drops
do your history on BMW- research the Bangle era....every car he redesigned got hated on...they would say he "bangled" this or that - like his name become a verb for destroying a design....the e46, the 5 series that you all claim to love now...even the prev gen 7 series were all met with much more backlash from BMW forums...yet they still did the numbers and people came around to love them- this is nothing new

when they re-designed em with that awkward modern lookin front clip they did a 180 and re-designed da subsequent models with da older style ques playing da forefront
once again.
Audi definitely gonna keep chomping at da bits of BMW's marketshare if they gonna keep rocking with that ugly design.
