I am a little pissed off that I don't hear any rumors about Colon and Niese. I do not want to see a 6-man rotation.

I love Matz and I'm really happy he got called up, but this is a publicity move to take fans off the ledge and give them false hope that the season might be saved. When in fact, all Matz does is create a logjam at our strongest position. It's a WIlpon move through and through to bide time till they don't do anything at all.

Mets eyeing move of Wilmer Flores from SS to second base

MILWAUKEE -- Wilmer Flores' days as a shortstop for the New York Mets, at least for the time being, appear numbered.

A source familiar with internal discussions confirmed to ESPN.com that there is a "good possibility" that Flores will be shifted to second base when Daniel Murphy returns from the disabled list as soon as this weekend.

Murphy would man third base, while Flores would play second base and Ruben Tejada -- at least in the short term -- would handle shortstop. Struggling rookie Dilson Herrera would be the odd man out as far as a starting infielder.

"He can play second base," manager Terry Collins said about Flores. "We've seen it. He's very good around the bag. He played it for a long time in the minor leagues. He played it very well last September. He's good over there."

While Flores' overall error total -- 10 -- is not unsightly, the Mets have struggled to turn double plays this season. Flores also has limited range at the position.

Flores' offense was supposed to justify absorbing some fielding deficiencies. However, aside from 10 homers, he has a modest .243 average and .277 on-base percentage.

The Mets believed having Flores work with the recently hired Mike Barwis on agility would improve his range, but he has not been passable at the position.

Murphy, on the DL with a left quadriceps strain, is scheduled to play seven innings Thursday night with Class A St. Lucie as his rehab assignment continues.

how though, what contracts do we have them undeR?

DeGrom is under team control for another 4 years. He'll get an extension once he's eligible for arbitration.
Harvey is under control for another 3 years, he'll get an extension in the offseason.
Thor and Matz are under control for 6 years and not arbitration eligible for probably another 2 years.
Wheeler is under control for 3 years and probably becomes arbitration eligible this year.

So really, you're just worrying about paying Harvey and deGrom for now. Wheeler won't command much in arbitration because of the injury so you don't need to worry about extending him until after next season.

By the time Cuddyer and Granderson come off the books that money will be shuffled into the pitchers. Wright probably never plays again so insurance picks up his contract. Mets aren't in a bad position by any means.

Plus you know, the Wilpons can afford it. They're just cheap.

I missed Mets games in the last four games due to road trip. I was in northern Ohio last Sunday. I tried to watch Mets game in MLB app on my iPhone and I got blackout. I was so mad.

NEW YORK -- It’s payday for Bobby Bonilla.

Back near the end of Bonilla’s playing days, the New York Mets agreed to pay him $1,193,248.20 annually on July 1 for 25 years, beginning in 2011.

Bonilla was owed $5.9 million when the Mets agreed to that buyout.

The agreement called for deferred payments at an 8 percent annual interest rate. At the time, Mets ownership did not mind that interest rate because their investments with Bernie Madoff were returning comfortably more than that figure.

Meanwhile, believe it or not, the Mets annually make a second payment to Bonilla, too.

CBSSports.com reported in 2013 that Bonilla receives a separate payment for 25 years, which is the shared responsibility of the Mets and Baltimore Orioles and runs through 2028. The Mets reportedly are required to pay slightly more than half of the annual $500,000 sum, which stems from Bonilla’s original tour of duty with the Mets.

I don't mind bringing up our prospects but I rather have them staying in the minors for the whole year this season and develop under great managers/coaches. Then they play in the Bigs next year.

I don't trust Collins with young hitters at all.

Wally Backman is our Triple A manager. Wally saved d'Arnaud's career last August.

I expect Mets to move Conforto, Nimmo and Gavin Cecchini up to Triple A this month or next month.
