New York Yankees Official Thread - RIP Former Manager Petey Rose

I'll put it further... Yankees opening day position players totaled $170,104,000 for 14 guys
(Trevino, Wells, Rizzo, LeMahieu, Torres, Berti, Volpe, Cabrera, Judge, Stanton, Verdugo, Jones, Grisham, Soto)

Currently the Yankees have 11
(Wells, Trevino, Rizzo ($9mil total), LeMahieu, Volpe, Jazz, Peraza, Judge, Stanton, Cabrera, Dominguez)
That total comes out to $110,500,000

Meaning they could sign Soto for $45mil a year (making him highest AAV in the league)
Gleyber for $15mil.
And if they add a rookie to round out the 14 you can skate by with only $1.5mil increase.

Have to basically find a team for LeMahieu. Can have like 5 prospects just to take a split.
Decline Berti & Grisham's arbitrations.

Getting out of DJ’s contract would make the possibility of going after a name in FA or trade at 1B possible.
Salary wise would be like they had a team 90% of the way set. And spent $10mil on one open spot.

That family has made billions and billions of dollars by owning the Yankees. I do not want to hear excuses on why they can't pay this and that for players. They absolutely can. It's a choice.

Maybe i’m in the minority but tacking on $36M and another year on an aging Cole w/o the sticky stuff is no bueno to me

Yea i get that. It just means his contract will end when he’s damn near 40. So maybe we can get two (maybe 3 at most) good years out of the 5 for $180M?

I wouldn’t be opposed to just doing the Harper here with Soto and moving him to first.
Keep Rizzo to help him learn the ropes.

Split Soto between the two this year and next year he’s full-time first base.

Then Judge back to RF. And then you only have to worry about what you’re doing LF/CF.

Verlander was elite until he was 40. If the Yankees add a year, Cole would be a FA at 38.
I sure hope so bro. Im a gerritt fan like you guys. He just hasn’t been as sharp and reliable as years past (HOU cheating days). Verlander was damn near untouchable from ages 30-38. Must have something to do with Kate Upton’s special powers . Who knows 😁

Again, it may be just me. But whenever im watching him pitch, i always wonder when he’ll falter or become erratic. I’m never sure how long he’ll last. Whether that be 5th, 6th, or 7th. Again that might just be me. But this year he was unreliable to go the distance unlike other highly paid aces. Last year was last year. A lot can happen within a year’s time especially if you are in your mid-30s. Just my 0.02.

I think complete games in general have gone done though since they implemented the pitch clock. He’s been a workhorse since he got here, and again he won the Cy last season. Was hurt during spring training and because of that, never got a proper start to his season.

He may be right on it but a dude that wasn't even on the World Series roster looks like a clown crowing about some W's the other dudes got. Lol at him using "We" when I played in the playoffs as much as he did.

He wasn’t not on the roster by choice, he was injured. Think he would have been if healthy though.

i wish Judge would turn into an Albert Bell type and have people terrified to talk sh*t like this. we need a goon ....

Judge doesn’t even have balls in the postseason.

Now all of a sudden he’s going to turn into an enforcer?

Please bro.

Is Coupe dbl’s burner or vice versa?
haha I see it now. I skimmed thread earlier in my office but Twitter is blocked so I didn't see his post showing it. Pretty funny we had the same reaction but I think most Yankees fans has the same tbh.

He probably wasn't going to get same AAV he's getting for 4 years elsewhere. If he was getting 5 or 6 years it was probably $30mil aav which would be moot. Or a team that would get to AAV wasn't the team he wanted to go to.
