Skydance developing The Old Guard adaptation with Gina Prince-Bythewood
The Hollywood Reporter brings word that filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood has signed on to direct The Old Guard, an adaptation of the recent comic book series in development at Skydance.
This marks another comic book property that Prince-Bythewood has signed on to direct, having previously directed the first episode of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and still in the midst of developing Sony’s Silver & Black (a spin-off of Spider-Man focusing on super spy SIlver Sable and world renowned thief Black Cat). Development on Silver & Black has hit snags along the way and while it’s stalled

The Old Guard was created by Greg Rucka and artist Leandro Fernandez and tells the story of old soldiers who never die…and yet cannot seem to fade away. Trapped in an immortality without explanation, Andromache of Scythia—”Andy”—and her comrades ply their trade for those who can find—and afford—their services. But in the 21st century, immortality is a hard secret to keep, and when you live long enough, you learn that there are many fates worse than death.
