This is where we disagree. You're willing to give Fast movies a pass.
They're trash.
I'm not adverse to movies where you know what it is and man I wouldnt even compare that Fast trash to Harry Potter.
I could say you know what you're getting going in with PotC movies. They're not super complicated or hard to get. Formula is detectable 5 movies in going on 6.
You didnt like any of them after the first. Thats cool. I happened to dig the first trilogy. Didn't mind the most recent one. Look forward to more.
They trash to me. I'd watch Underworld before a Fast movie and I don't care for vampires.I'm not giving fast movies a pass, I'm just accepting them who/what they are.. I wouldn't lower them to the level of underworld or resident evil movies, where you know what your getting when going in too
Not sure style matters. Yes they're different but Harry Potter is still the better franchise. Differing styles doesnt mean you cant compare.Harry Potter doesn't fit the style of franchise of fast movies, MI, POTC, resident evil or underworld.. but just used it to illustrate that point
I already knew you didnt like the majority of PotC movies. I still disagree with why you do.But where MI has done well with it's choice of directors and you can see from their other projects.. I think that's where pirates has failed, not sure to how much a degree depp has control of the project but his choices have been pretty terrible going on years now (those Alice in wonderland movies are another set of movies that ain't for me)
I can see why fallout was so good, when I look and see the director also did jack reacher and rogue nation.. or brad bird or JJ Abrams.. whereas I see why Lone Ranger left me feeling like verbinski's last 2 films and why 'into the woods' seems very skip-able whenever I see it on
I like the jack sparrow character and enjoy supporting characters like Gibbs and barbossa.. but the movies feel too campy at times.. I mean I hope the get better, but I have very little hope that it happens
Yeah but you can still compare it to something else.^ style matters in how a goal could be accomplished.. like harry potter built up to the ultimate showdown with what's his face, would be closer to comparing those movies to say LOTRs
Yeah but you called them failures.^ I know.. but what I'm saying as far as approaching it and fixing problems you look to those similar that work and dont work
Something must be up cuz this pic just oozes sex to meFirst Look at Dora the Explorer
Yeah but you called them failures.
My point was they keep making money and keep making sequels. Definitely not failing. In a lot of eyes everything is working for the most part. And nothing that isnt is so bad theyre stopping the franchise.
Well ASM is an example of a movie that could've been better and should've made more money and thats why they scrapped it.Yea they'll keep getting made cause they're making bank.. but I look at movies like AMS1 and 2, where you know there is potential for better films with the property
Like the fast movies, I don't expect better from those.. DCEU (after Nolan) and fox's marvel I do
THE MEG Bites Off Monstrous $44.5M Debut
Thanks to one of the stronger marketing campaigns in recent memory, Warner Bros.' The Meg is swimming to the top of the box office with a stellar $44.5 million opening weekend, the biggest debut ever for a monster shark movie. Overseas, the Jon Turteltaub-directed film collected $97 million, including a whopping $50 million from China alone, bringing its worldwide total to a massive $141.5 million, which is certainly not a bad start on its estimated $150 million production budget.
Despite a decidedly mixed reception from both critics and audiences alike, the film is now the tenth best opener of 2018, topping the openings of a number of major 2018 films, including Ready Player One ($41.7M), Ocean's 8 ($41.6M), and The Equalizer 2 ($36M). The Jason Statham-led feature also managed to eclipse the opening weekends of fellow actioners, Rampage ($35.7M) and Skyscraper($24.9M), both of which star his Hobbs & Shaw co-star Dwayne Johnson.
