Now that we've all agreed a 16 game suspension for Gordon is warranted, Im going to attempt to change directions to something way more relevant. The Packers 2nd round selection Devonte Adams.

Among all the WR's I think he'll end up being somewhere in the top 5 range this year.

I think a year away from football only increases his chances of getting in trouble a few more times. 8-10 games, scares him and makes decreases his chances of throwing it all away

it depends how it's done. mandatory rehab program. something like that.

he's shown that 8 weeks isn't going to teach him a lesson.

How do you know for sure 8 weeks isnt enough?

Being away isn't whats best for him, having a good support system is...and that can come with being away from the game or having a chance to be with teammates to talk sense into the kid.

Blackmon was away for a year and he's on the same path...the number of games is irrelevant if he wants to get help.

i trying to say he needs more than 8 weeks to address his issues. its clearly a serious problem for him

Because you know the guy right? And you know exactly how much of a problem it is. :rolleyes

Maybe to Gordon, weed>>>>>>football.

Who's to say exactly how much time he should be suspended for, anywayTake it for what is, a PUNISHMENT.
and not time off to deal with his stuff. That's pretty stupid anyway, "let's help him by giving him even more free time!"?

All sorts of companies drug test, regardless if done universally in a field. Not many things are done universally across a field
It's weird. I worked for a moving company two years ago and they drug tested very strictly. I interned for IBM last year, a Top 25 Fortune 500 company, and they didn't even mention drug testing.

Interesting

I wonder why

i have no question that weed is more important to him. that's why i think he think he needs time away from football to GET HELP. i been saying he NEEDS HELP all along, not free time to go get into more trouble.

if he's going to seek out legit help, it's not going to be done while he's working with the team and getting ready to come back in 4 or 6 or 8 weeks.

EDIT: punishment or whatever you call it, doesn't really matter. he needs to get away from the game. it's on him at the end of the day to make a change.

client facing versus non client facing would be my guess? not sure what you did at IBM tho

Whose your team?

I didn't just read "who are you to say he has a problem, maybe he cares more about weed than football" did I?

Isn't the fact that he cares more about weed, than football a problem by itself?

My wife is an admin at a public school and never has been in all her years in education :lol

I'm guessing it is assumed if you deal with high schoolers all day you do what you need to get through it

gotcha. the last two jobs i had before my current one had drug testing. one was client facing and the other had the potential for it, that's why i guessed that

Yup, because it's his life. He doesn't owe anybody ****.

Quit with the doom and gloom. You've said multiple times "I don't see how it's so hard" "You just stop". Now you're chaniging your tune.

And what if he goes to rehab and it's just four weeks. They let you out and vouch for you when you're good right? Can he come back or does he still deserve the yearlong suspension.

Word. That's why I found it so odd that they weren't drug testing, but I've been hearing a lot of companies nowadays don't want to waste their money making employees get drug tested. Who knows.

:lol TSJ

i forgot who i'm trying to talk to. i can't write it out in crayon for you so i'll agree to disagree.

yeah that makes sense. IBM being so big would have to spend tons doing it :lol

It is his life, and no he doesn't owe anyone **** (except himself). If he wants to throw his career away to smoke weed, I have no problem with that. If that's the case, I never want to hear him appeal or complain about his suspension.

That's not even factoring in that substance abuse still is a problem, considering it's led him into a DUI. unless you don't think that's a problem either.

Oooh, personal shot (again). Let's see if NT rides for me (doubt it).
Your comments gonna get so many reps, but you always pay it back. NT Hat

My guess is teams and their doctors would skirt the issue to keep players on the field

Hell yeah. Teams wouldn't sit a star down for weed. A lot of these dudes just wanna smoke to enjoy the off-season. In cases like Josh Gordon he needs to get some help cuz he's pissing away a great opportunity.

anyway...

Giants are gonna go through a carousel of backs the entire season. Whether they keep them all on the roster the entire year or not, I can see Jennings, Wilson, Hillis and even Andre Williams getting starts this year.

i wonder how their line will hold up. losing snee hurts even though they might have been somewhat prepared for that news

I do consider the DWI a problem, at that point he's endangering others. My issue is with dudes like your boyfriend who read into things and
pretend like they know the exact solution. Darryl Washingtoon got a two (or four game suspension last year), and a yearlong for this year for weed (and a domestic situation). Goodell actually is being consistent.

It's a punishment, not the exact prescription of what's gonna help Josh Gordon. He could be good in a year 2 weeks, never, or might not even care to "get better". Y'all don't know. Why pretend like you do?
