Dudes needs to think with logic over emotion.

i agree that Ray Rice was completely out of line and no one wants to condone or thinks we should tolerate that sort of behavior.

sure, we live in a time in which the N-word is no longer in-and-of itself a blatant act of racism and people aren't being hung from trees or attacked because of their race, but that's because it's part of a larger structure in which institutional racism exists and the justice system says it's okay for police/"neighborhood watch" to shoot, choke, and kill people of color without any sort of repercussion

Cooper used a word that was used to black men before they were hung or beaten to death for hundreds of years and oh yeah he plays in a league full of black men. Can't even compare the 2.

Chillout. Never said one was more offensive. In one situation its cut and dry, Cooper used racist word period. In another we don't know what really happened in that elevator. If he just hit her for reason or if they were both hitting each other. Both situations are wrong but in a league full of black men they will look at the white dude that said some racist ****.

abuse against women and a racist rant, like some have said, both terribly wrong. but at the end of the day, you can't compare oppressions and say one is worse than the other.

and maybe black NFL players are more indignant to Riley's rant because uhmm...they're BLACK. could there be more of a vested interest because they, along with other people of color, face racism?

my mom's a chinese/cambodian immigrant, doesn't speak english well, and probably wouldn't pay it any mind


but let me just say if some white folks came up to my mom calling her n*ger-this, n*ger-that on some insulting, backcountry ***, southern racist *** ****, they'd get dealt with.

The situation was fairly Black and White with Riley Cooper

With Ray Rice, they are shades of grey, its more of a family matter and typical NFL players dont comment family matters

Also NFL players, White and Black can probably relate to hitting someone more than calling another person a racial slur on camera

hitting a women though? that's not something i would think all players can easily relate to

i wouldn't expect players to be in an uproar about rice more than they would about the N word, but i don't think it's because they can relate to hitting women or accept it more than the N word being used by a white guy. i would hope not at least.

that might be what the Herd is getting at. it's kind of bad in a way. more players should prob be upset about it. they've got wives, daughters, etc

i don't know what happened in that elevator, but i find it tough to believe that the girl needed to get KO'd. pretty sure Ray could have handled it better. but again, who knows. i wasn't there.

short of threatening him with a deadly weapon, i don't think she could've done anything to deserve ending up like that.

idk what rice's wife looked like after the beating, but if they released post-pictures like they did rihanna, maybe Rice would have faced stiffer public scrutiny...or maybe Goddell is just that good about covering things up.

DId he have a right to defend himself if she was pulling a Solange on him? Yup, definitely.

Like someone already said though, no one else was there so the punishment is justified IMO.

how long was that damn elevator ride?

i know nothing about the girl and her ability to inflict harm or if she had a weapon, but I do know that Ray Rice is used to being tackled/abused/hit/kicked/grabbed at/smacked around by 265lbs+ players. in no way am i condoning her alleged behavior towards him, but something is telling me that RR wasn't facing much injury, or anything that warranted KO'ing her.

i hope RR knows some sort of mixed martial arts and just gave her a quick debilitating sleeper hold or pinch

The players can put themselves in that position of Ray Rice

Most of the players are the are wanted ones in the relationship

I know from my personal experience when you are the more wanted one in the relationship, it can jealously

Girls when they are jealous and likely to be extremely emotional and more likely to be violent

So I think we have come to agreement they are both wrong, just surprised there were no guys in the league that voiced their opinion, since they seemed to be pretty bold/outgoing in other situations. /end rant . Rady for this season to get underway.
