NFL Week 17 In Review...

Don't worry Oakland, you can improve your defense thru the draft.........

No need to...just bring in a new D-coordinator. Spags is officially out in St. Louis.

Don't have much to say this week,

Dream Team, Jets, and Bucs were a bit dissapointing this season.

Especially the Cowboys.

8-8 and no playoffs is a bad season, but it's better than your sorry 6-10.

fact that we didn't make the playoffs makes the Palmer trade a fail.
At the end of the day tho, I'm glad we didn't follow the Bears and fall off in November.

Palmer was probably our best player yesterday, threw only 1 pick and that's b/c Jacoby fell down.
If our Defense doesn't give up a 98 yard drive to the Lions w/ 2 minutes left and a 99.5 yard drive to the Bolts in the 4th quarter w/ our season on the line, we're in the playoffs.
Hell you can look at the Bills game as well, couldn't get a +@@!+$@ stop at all.

I'm not too mad tho, this isn't a playoff team w/ the defense we have. We would've been torched in the playoffs if we did make it.

Chuck B is as good as gone, gunna be interesting to see the moves the Raiders make this offseason.
No picks til the 3rd at the earliest, we need to hire GMs, make some good trades, etc.
Big spot of need is #2 CB, resign Tyvon Branch, and get a legit D-Coordinator.

Yea better by wins but one team was a self proclaimed SB lock and the other was counting down the days to fire their coach and battle it out with the Bills for last place. Everything CP said is right. Shame that those who did the most talking couldn't handle facing the media after not coming to play against Miami.

BTW, Venom you're absolutely right about Flynn. But, he did show he could hold his own last year when Rodgers had that concussion and he went toe to toe with Brady. Now it's just a matter of if he's the next Matt Schaub or the next Kevin Kolb.

Exactly, better by 2 games when we played like 13 of those games with Matt Moore at QB and a coach we tried all offseason to replace but didn't.

The Jets had their "franchise" QB and fat @#$% coach all year, and still got worked by half our team.  Ya'll was just lucky Henne didn't come back and get yet another W over you guys.

But again, the best part is that defense getting run by Matt Moore and Steve Slaton, for a 21 play, 94 yard, 12:29 possession all the way down the field to take the lead.  Poetry.

Yeah, that drive was pathetic on the part of the Jets D

.

Another bum @%# delusional Cowboy fan, what's new? I loved being surrounded by Cowboy fans yesterday seeing the dejected, pathetic
looks on their faces as I cheered on the Giants.

+Texans+
- I would have preferred a win even with a bunch of 2nd-4th stringers in for most of the time, but it's all good. The
Texans/Bengals game could go either way, but I'm gonna ride with our running game and defense and expect us
to take it over.

+Seahawks+
- Tavaris is a ^#&$*@# bum and needs to go, or be the backup for a (hopefully) incoming (healthy) Peyton, Matt Flynn,
or SOME QB who actually has pocket awareness and doesn't have a terrified look on his face every Sunday. The D always
played inspired this year and I expect bigger things from them next year.

+The Rest+
- Flynn is about to get PAID...and that's either to go start somewhere else, or make sure they have an insurance policy for Rodgers.
- Cam

That's the ROTY people, get over it
- Bucs are pathetic
30t6p3b.gif
, and even though Morris should have gotten another year to turn them around, may as well clean house sooner
and move on
- I think the Lions will fair better in the playoffs than people think.

Jets, I don't even have any animosity for them or anything, but good lord, talk about underachieving. It's pretty alarming how
they compared compared to the past 2 years. They remind me of the Orlando Magic when they surprised people going to the Finals,
then proceded to make random trades/additions and slowly get worse and worse.
- Cowboys? &@^#$'em. Eli seems to not only own Jerry's World, but he owns Jerry himself. And as long as Jones still owns the Cowboys
and is basically a coach, they'll continue to be an overrated to hell team that's actually just mediocre. It's pretty sad to, cause I actually
like Romo, Witten, and Austin. Cruuuuuuuuz

I know everything is hindsight, but I'm still baffled at how he had such an outstanding
preseason game last year, and at least didn't get more immediate shine once the regular season started.
- Bills trolled for as long as they could

Has Norv Turner ever lost 10 straight games? Has he had 41 unanswered points scored against him by the 5 win Jacksonville Jaguars, then opened up the next game down 28-0 (that's 69 unanswered points scored against if you were counting). Then lost 48-16 against a division rival who was supposed to be the worst team in the division. Then the last game of the year was down 42-0 IN THE SECOND $+@$!#% QUARTER.Straight up, if you say he should have been kept around you're either saying that because you think he's a nice guy, or because he's black. Before the 10 win season last year against a weak schedule that was even weaker because most the good teams they did play had injured starting quarterbacks against us and had to play the backup, he went 3-13. Check out Raheem's resume when you get the chance. I have absolutely no idea how this guy bs'ed his way to a head coaching job. He would be the best used car salesman in the country.

It really is not clear cut anymore for Rodgers, it can go either way with Brees.

Both should win co-MVP's.

I would think it would be a toss-up out of Brees and Rodgers too, but Matt Flynn didn't do Rodgers any favors Sunday
laugh.gif

Not sure if Chase Daniel could run the Saints offense like that.

The whole system QB thing in reference to A-Rod needs to stop immediately. Anyone who watched him play knows that his precision, pocket presence, and ability to scramble are unreal. I don't give a damn what the backup did, Rodgers was on an unreal level for 95 percent of the season. Impossible passes became routine. Brees should get consideration simply cause of the numbers he put up but I think Rodgers still wins it.

What does Matt Flynn's performance yesterday have anything to do with Aaron Rodgers' performance over a 15 game span this season?  Especially against a team like Detroit with a pretty bad passing defense.

49ers
-I like their chances against the Saints since the game would be played in San Francisco- I wouldn't say the same if it would be in NO. The Saints haven't been that great on the road, so I do feel like SF can beat them at home.
-I'm optimistic about their chances to win it...they have the defense to shut down high-scoring offenses, and they have won tough games on the road during the season, which will help them if they need to travel to Green Bay. It all depends on if Alex Smith can hold his own and make plays, which he has  for most of the season.

Other
-That Carson Palmer trade...
laugh.gif
. The Bengals made out like bandits...It was a big-time gamble by Hue Jackson but it's definitely backfired. He's an average QB right now at best, they would have been much better off signing a FA QB- he couldn't have been any worse than Palmer was this year. Maybe with one offsesason in he'll play better but given his age I wouldn't count on him returning to his old form anytime soon

- larry fitz is a bawse...come to NE
- congrats to hines on a big milestone
- let's re-visit the carson palmer trade now...was it worth it? bengals are set up to improve quite a bit
- matt flynn...wow
- stevie johnson...you're a bum. props to gailey for sitting this clown. the celebration rules are terrible, but know that they're in place, can't be doing dumb %@@# like that
- feel bad for tony romo...jason garrett and robb ryan need to go though. the cowboys were completely unprepared for that game. unacceptable
- victor cruz is the giant MVP...dude makes PLAYS
- if that giant pass rush stays healthy and gets going...watch out NFC. poised to make a run...
- brees was not going to let brady pass him. and good for him...he deserves to be in the books
- likewise...props for obrien letting hoyer throw it up to gronk on our final drive
laugh.gif

- jets...EVERYTHING CP said. from the coach down to that piss poor excuse of a "captain"...pathetic. all talk and 100% full of %@@#. all that said, the one person i don't hate on the team is mark sanchez. he failed to take that step forward this year, but i don't know if you write him off just yet. as a rival it's easy to say, but i'd be willing to gamble on him for another year. change needs to happen in other areas. i feel like he is the type of guy that works and tries to get better. but only so much you can do with a bunch of clown around you.
- keep peyton manning and matt flynn out of the AFC east please

pats
- opposite of recent pats teams...we're starting slow and finishing strong now. i guess it's better...but these big holes that we've dug out of...not going to be digging out of holes like that against any of the remaining teams.
- devin mccourty at safety...half need, half experimental...but i like it. not a terrible idea.
- mayo and spikes back should help a bit
- steven ridley
- the twin TEs and wes welker...pick your poison
- imagine this team with another QB...we'd be in the RG3 sweepstakes
laugh.gif

- brady....5,235 yards, 39 TDs, 12 INTs, 105.6....300 career TDs. solid regular season, keep it rolling in january

Just the fact that the Packers didn't miss a beat at all with Rodgers not in there. It's not really a knock on Rodgers, it shows how deep the
Packers are. Lions do have a bad pass D, but they still were a team fighting for positioning who had a chance at winning.
